Country Crafty Colourful Weekend Party Wedding

Lucy and Joe chose to marry on the 11^th July 2015 in a Church which was meaningful to them and they hosted their reception at The Old Rectory, which is nestled in the Devon countryside. They envisioned a country party wedding which was to last a whole weekend, it sounds amazing right? Well it really was. With delicious food, live music, and a stunning pole marquee their guests were in for a real treat.

Lucy wore beautiful bridal separates by Charlie Brear teamed with Harriet Wilde shoes and flowers in her hair. Meanwhile Joe wore Paul Smith and the maids donned white frocks which looked just lovely. I adore the peachy blooms, fun pom poms and the decorated car.

THE PROPOSAL | Goa, India, on a boat at sunset whilst in a semi-gale!

THE VISION | Country party long weekend away.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | It took 18 months in total, which meant we were lucky to get most of our first choices. We wanted to get married in Holy Cross church, Tetcott, on the farm here my mum grew up – so we had to find a venue nearby, which could sleep most of the wedding party, had no curfew, and which we could take over for the long weekend. The catering was next – and actually our first choice was booked, which meant we had to do a lot of digging to find a ‘non traditional’ meat and two veg wedding caterer. We found the most incredible couple – Hannah and Al of The Cauldron, who made the most incredible food. Our guests are still talking about it. After that came DJ, band and all the other bits, but it was quite a nice relaxed process. Only stress came the few days before the wedding!

FINDING THE DRESS | I went to 7 places in total, and this was the last and final find.. It was perfect and the shop is amazing too.

GROOM’S ATTIRE | Head to toe Paul Smith.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We had a traditional church wedding, so all the music was traditional church organ songs. We had an incredible gospel choir there (Callington gospel choir) who sang gospel songs at the start and when we were signing the register.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | All my best pals from home – they all wore simple cream dresses from the Finery. And they each found their own gold shoes.

THE FLOWERS | From an amazing florist in Devon, Laura Hingston.

THE CAKE | We didn’t have an official wedding cake – instead our caterers made us a whole shed full of beautiful puddings decorated with flowers!

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | I wanted everything to be full of colour and fit in with the rambling country venue – Joe’s mum made miles of bunting with fabric we selected, I got loads of pom poms online, made the table numbers, basically lots of arts and crafts over several months thanks to Pinterest!

THE HONEYMOON | Greece island hopping.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The amazing gospel choir, our incredible food, our fabulous wedding DJ who blew the fuse box (!), our band who played for two hours more than planned.
