Dearly Beloved Fresh & Stylish Wedding Stationery & Invitations

Hi Ben and Abi, could you firstly tell WWW readers a little bit about you?

Hi! We are Dearly Beloved, creative couple Ben and Abi who specialise in designing contemporary wedding stationery and beautifully illustrated products. We work together from our home studio down by the sea on Plymouth’s Barbican in Devon.

What do you love and dislike about your job?

We really love working with people! We are passionate about great design and it’s awesome to share this with other couples. The best part about what we do is working help people’s vision for their wedding day come together.

What do we dislike?…

B: I don’t like admin…

A: But I really like being organised! So it’s a good job we’re a team!

How did you get into the wedding industry?

B: Well we met at university whilst studying Illustration.  After our degrees we were both lucky enough to find work in design and illustration. Abi was being asked to create quite a few invitations and we could see a great opportunity to combine our skills to build a creative business.

A: I guess because my work is feminine it really suits a lot of wedding styles. I really love the process of working with couples, on what for a lot of people, is one of the biggest days of their lives. It’s amazing seeing how happy people are in photos of their wedding and then spotting our designs there in the back of shot, helping make the day special!

Tell us about your typical working day.

Our days are so varied, when we aren’t painting or designing at the computer (and upsetting the neighbours with our terrible singing) we could be meeting clients to talk about their wedding, running back and forth to our local printer or heading out to styled photoshoots.

We try to get out to cafes once and a while too when we need to discuss new ideas or tricky stuff, sometimes it helps to be out of the studio.

If you could choose another role in the wedding industry what would it be?

A: WEDDING SINGER! I’m not sure I have the talent but I would be very enthusiastic

B: I think I would make an excellent Chief Cake Sampler… actually I could do Abi’s backing vocals!

What do you aim to achieve for your clients?

The client feedback we are most proud of is that we are able to interpret their wedding style and create something beautiful without compromising their ideas. If we can do this for every couple we’ll consider our work a success!

Could you tell us some information about your packages/prices?

There are two ways we can work with you, we can create something completely bespoke or you can choose from the Dearly Beloved Collections.

We charge our bespoke work by an hourly design rate, so the price really depends on what you would like. We normally ask couples to sit down together and send over some images of visuals they like so we can get an idea of their style. (This could be anything from a film poster to their favourite fabric or some detail from the bridesmaid dresses.) Then we send over a quote based on the time we estimate it will take us to create their personalised design.

Our Collections are a selection of designs available straight from dearlybeloveddesign.co.uk and range from £1 – £2.50 per item.

Do you have any tips for couples in selecting their stationery?

Don’t be afraid to make your wedding your own! Don’t get bogged down with traditions if they just aren’t for you. A wedding is a celebration of your lives together so it should feel like “you”!
