Autumnal Bohemian Eco Friendly Wedding Inspiration

Hosting an eco friendly wedding, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice on style as demonstrated in today’s gorgeous wedding inspiration editorial. The talented team behind this shoot headed up by The South West Wedding Company and captured superbly by Sarah Jayne Photography shows us how to be sustainable in total and utter bohemian style.

The autumnal styling is out of this world, with a colour palette of burgundy, orange and blush tones used in the exquisite stationery, the marvellous blooms and in the centrepiece cake creation, swoon! Elements in the shoot are re-purposed and reused, such as the antique dresser sweet table and old curtains used as a table runner. The venue; Higher Holcombe also boasts eco credentials and most of the suppliers were local to the area, which is a simple yet effective way of staying green. I am certain you are going to fall for these dreamy images and all the lovely touches the team put together.

Eco Friendly Wedding Inspiration

The aim for our shoot  was to create an autumnal bohemian vibe whilst promoting up-cycled and re-usable items to show that weddings can have a low environmental impact by loving the old and cherishing preloved items.

The shoot took place at Higher Holcombe in Ottery St Mary, Devon. This venue was selected based on their core principles of being as ‘Green’ as possible. They have planted over 7000 trees since the venue opened and plan to plant a further 2-3 acres this winter this along with their wild flower meadow (which brides can use for their bouquets – Pick Your Own), Willow cathedral and their own borehole providing their guests with their very own water!

We used as many local suppliers as we could and ended up with a group of amazing ladies that were lovely to work with.

We were hoping to shoot outside in the Willow Cathedral but the English weather was not on our side. Luckily Higher Holcome has a beautiful barn which was flooded with natural light so we were able to continue the shoot indoors and away from the rain.

The flowers were bold autumnal colours and incorporated lots of fluffy texture to really get the full boho vibe. We had two bouquets and a beautiful flower crown to complete the brides look.

We layered old curtains along the centre of the table before placing reused bottles with flowers to match the bouquet onto the table to create a romantic tablescape. The stationery completed the look with another level of texture with tassels on each menu/name place.

For makeup Claire wanted a deep, rich colour palette with a simple feel to it. Nothing overly complicated, a monochromatic look using the colours of autumn, from light copper tones of the leaves through to a deep burnt bark shade. It evolved into a 1990’s inspired makeup, but with a contemporary feel to it with fluffy brows and lashes.This look was perfectly topped off with the most beautiful and intricate crown from the Lucky Sixpence.

We styled an antique dresser as a Sweet Station dressed with glass jars of goodies the very English alternative to a Candy Cart.

We also used a upcycled copper frame to hang the beautiful Macramé backdrop from adding to the boho theme of the shoot.
