When I get to feature real weddings like this, it really is a pinch-me moment. I mean what’s not to LOVE about WWW readers Emily and Aaron’s eco garden wedding? The answer, absolutely zero!
First up, it’s such an honour to be sharing WWW fave wedding supplier Thyme Lane Photography‘s stupendous images (thank you Noemi!) which are filled with warmth and emotion. What a feast for the eyes.
Then there was of course the glorious Norfolk back garden setting and giant hat tipis, which were so beautifully styled and decorated. Every element of their day was thoughtfully considering sustainability and many of the touches are from small business owners which is wonderful to see.
I love the gorgeous flowers, Emily’s divine floral dress, the stunning illustrations, all of the stylish attire and of course the starry ceiling. What a dream.

We got engaged in February 2020 during a 2 week trip to Japan. Aaron proposed during a hike through the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto.
We wanted a wedding that was relaxed, informal and was environmentally conscious.

Emily’s dress is from Needle & Thread. Emily wanted a dress that reflected her love of nature (the dress is covered in embroidery of birds, flowers, dragonflies). The dress was also part of the Jasmine Hemseley X Needle & Thread Collection which used recycled materials and supported the Women for Women International charity.
Emily’s veil and purchased from Sash and Veil.
Aaron’s suit is from Moss Bros – he wanted a good quality suit that didn’t break the bank. We purchased unique accessories from small businesses on Etsy including Tie Garden and Catkin Jane.

We wanted a church ceremony that reflected modern-day thinking particularly with regards to gender equality – so we chose readings that best captured this and spoke about love in real terms. This included a passage from Alain de Botton’s book ‘The Course of Love’.
We chose hymns that spoke of nature, including ‘For the Beauty of the Earth’ and ‘All Creatures of Our God and King’. The rest of the music included some of our favourite timeless tunes including ‘Lean on Me’, ‘Time after Time’, ‘Stand by Me’, ‘For Once in My Life’.

We wanted to work with a photographer who could capture the relaxed nature of the day – rather it feeling pompous and staged. Noemi and Pal from Thyme Lane Photography appealed to us as they prioritise relaxed, informal and natural shots.

We wanted to re-use and upcycle as much as we could for décor – for example jam jars, glass bottles etc, which we decorated with recycled sari ribbon from TangledArtbyMoniqe. The display stand for table plan was made from an old wooden pallet and the frame for the photo-booth background was made from upcycled materials by Pitt Farm Carpentry.
We ordered paper decorations from Etsy store Decopompoms.
We hired the giant garden games (Jenga, Connect-4 and Kerplunk) from Belles and Beaus.
The floral arrangements by Myrtle and Thyme included lots of seasonal flowers and foliage (including dahlias, grasses, bramble berries, Amaranthus).
The cake also had a natural theme as it was iced to look like a birch tree! It was styled on top of wood slices.
The giant hat tipis (from Magical Events Ltd) within Emily’s parents garden provided the perfect setting for the event and contributed to the cosy, rustic and boho feel.

We honeymooned in Mykonos, Greece, straight after the wedding. We stayed at Saint John Hotel.
Our dog Pepper (black cocker spaniel) crashing all our wedding photos – we wouldn’t have it any other way!
Get all the ‘big things’ (e.g. venue and catering) booked in nice and early and then you only need to worry about the details closer to the time. Try and enjoy the process even if it feels incredibly stressful at the time!
Wow, just wow!
Emily and Aaron, I can’t thank you enough for sharing your very special eco garden wedding with us.
