It may be Wednesday AKA hump day, but I am joining Lexi and Kwam and whooping for joy that I get to share their day with you today! They were hitched on the 26th May 2019 at Monday Night Garage Brewery in Atlanta, Georgia. Their vision was fuss free, stress free and totally family focused. Casual was the key vibe for them, so that together with their loved ones they could have a really great laid back day; think beers and dancing, hooray!
Their reception venue was cool, cosy and industrial, which they decorated simply with flowers, an amazing gluten free cake and lots of candles. I really love everyone’s outfits too, Lexi looked beautiful in her strapless gown, Kwam rocked his forest green jacket and converse, while the bridesmaids wore pretty pink frocks. Stylish indeed.
A massive thank you to Aline Marin Photography for sharing with us these really awesome and happy images.

Kwam and I had planned a trip with my daughter to visit my parents in Beaufort, SC. He had been talking with them and got my favorite flower – sunflowers – to be placed all over their back deck when we arrived. As I was walking out, my daughter and Kwam were waiting outside and she delivered a box to me, which ended up being the ring. He then proposed and we celebrated with my family!

We are very casual people, so we wanted this to be a wedding people felt comfortable at, were able to bring their kids (our daughter was 2.5 at the time), could have a good beer and dance while also have space to catch up. Our wedding planner is a close family friend, so she was able to help us create a wedding that felt special and magical, while also honouring our desire to have it be a little more on the casual side.

We planned with Robyne Gordon of Carrie Belle Events and she was amazing. Above and beyond, catered to our unique needs and was so knowledgeable of vendors that fit what we were looking for. We planned with her for about 5-6 months, at times it was stressful, but she did a great job of organizing and making sure we stayed on task.

My dress is from Kelly’s Closet and I worked with Kelly in Atlanta. She was so helpful and patient. We found a bunch of dresses and she helped me find the style that looked best with my body (and within my budget!).
Kwam rented his suit from Nordstrom’s The Black Tux. We wanted a forest green theme, and they helped us nail it! He also got some forest green converse to match, which allowed him to feel like himself and comfortable.

DJ – @DJEarlthe3rd – He was one of our favorite parts of the wedding!

Aline Marin Photography – Aline and Mihai were also such a HUGE part of our wedding. We are not the most comfortable in front of the camera and they both made us feel like top models. Their personality is UNMATCHED.

Greyson Johnston at GREYside Photography. He did such an amazing job capturing such a special day. My daughter still loves watching our video from our day.

The décor was a lot of DIY – Andrew Emond, our florist, did a lot of the table arrangements. Also, the venue was already pretty decorated to our liking, so it wasn’t a huge effort!
My cousin, Andrew Emond, did our floral arrangements. He was also one of our favorite parts! He bought from a local shop and prepared everything for us!
Hell Yeah Gluten Free did our cake. It was SO delicious AND gorgeous. We also had mini donuts from Revolution Donuts.

We went to Paris! It was amazing. So much fun to get away just the 2 of us after a crazy season of wedding planning and get to celebrate together.
My dad walked my daughter down the aisle to meet my husband during the wedding ceremony. That, along with their first dance together, was probably my hands-down favorite part. It was so significant to me. Also, having my sisters and best friends hang with me all weekend made the wedding so much fun!
Our DJ was awesome! We had a pretty wide range of people who were at our wedding and he created a playlist that kept everyone dancing all night. It was so much fun!

Stay true to YOUR vision. It is really tempting to want what you see in a picture or what your friends suggest, but I am glad we really stuck to keeping it casual – which was our original vision. It is how we roll and made our day so much less stressful and we felt like ourselves. We were comfortable! Everyone has a different vision – so stick with yours!
