Today’s wedding has a really wonderful moody and quirky vibe, part in thanks to the fantastic venue, Glazebrook House in Devon. WWW followers Dan and Natasha were married there on the 20th November 2019 on a wonderfully Autumnal day. Relaxed and natural was order of the day with an intimate atmosphere and you can certainly feel the love in these brilliant images by Harriet Bird Photography, which I am so grateful to be sharing with you.
Dan and Natasha certainly have a lot of style, I mean take their outfits for example. Natasha wore a beautiful two piece top and skirt by Andrea Hawkes teamed with a birdcage veil, which I have to say looked stunning. Dan meanwhile opted for a brown tweed suit, bow tie and oxblood shoes, a really dapper look indeed.
The decorations were kept simple, with no flowers but instead greenery, candles and opulent table centres using fun lamps, what a fantastic idea! I also really love the monochrome stationery, fun and very sophisticated too.

I was celebrating my 40th birthday so Dan took me away to the beautiful Glazebrook House in south Brent to stay for a weekend, he took me on a coastal walk to a place called Start point, little did I know that when we got to the light house at the end he got down on one knee and proposed, it was very romantic and a good “starting point” for our lives together.

My vision was elegance and classic, I must be one of the only brides who don’t like flowers so I filled the day with lots of candles and greenery, my wonderful mother did this for me, family is everything and I wanted the day to be intimate, it was that and much more, it was just perfect.

We chose the venue first the wonderful Glazebrook House, and after that the wedding was planned in just under 9 months, as I said early I love planning and am lucky enough to have heyyholly at hand to help with anything that I had missed, I knew with heyyholly by my side on the day things would run smoothly which they did beautifully.
We worked closely with the staff at Glazebrook, Chloe, who was amazing and nothing was too much for her.
We made a weekend of the celebrations and asked all our friends and family’s to stay the duration, we are Surrey based so travelling to Devon allowed us to make a weekend of it, with lots of pub lunches and walks along the beach.
We choose Glazebrook House because of its beautiful interior and staff not only does the owner greet your personality but he makes you feel special as do all the staff.
I loved the dark walls, and the quirky interior. We travelled down to Devon several times and each time noticed something even more interesting and unusual inside.
We loved the wedding breakfast menu, giving the guests a choice of 3 options, for starter, main and dessert. We also loved the cream tea we had on one of our visits and the unique way it was presented.
We choose Melanie Thornton mua to do the make up for the day. I loved her energy and I enjoyed the morning with her and the women in my family having giggles and getting excited while being pampered.
Dan took his best man to a Turkish barbers in Exeter, Taji barber for a cut throat shave.

My wedding dress was from a British bridal designer based in London, Andrea Hawkes Bridal.
I knew exactly what I wanted, something simple and contemporary. I went to their boutique in Islington taking along my mum and sister, it was important to me for their approval.
It was a two piece, Rowan top and Kirsten skirt, made from beautiful Moroccan silks it was so comfortable and easy to move in.
I didn’t want a veil, instead opting for a feather and lace headpiece made from Starcross Boutique, who I worked with to get it exactly how I wanted it.
Dan was passionate about wearing tweed. He went to Black Tie in Crowthorne and opted for a Liberty print bow tie and pocket square, he wore mustard socks and ox blood shoes which added to the quirkiness of the day.

The groomsmen wore the same suits but with plain green tie, making Dan stand out.
A family member very close to Natasha’s heart did a reading. Suzie read A realistic wedding poem by Ms Moem.
Music was by the Jet Fighters, they did a 2 hr live set followed by 3 hrs DJ set. We loved the atmosphere they set and their performance was clean.

Flowers aren’t my thing, so instead choose candles and lots of foliage. Mixed together created the most amazing winter smells.

We chose Harriet Bird Photography because of her unique eye for detail, we wanted someone who would put our guests at ease and capture the day without structure. She was so professional on the day and always smiling.
Her ability to snap away without imposing was excellent, we discussed how important it was not to be taken away from guests for too many photos and Harriet found the perfect balance.

Detail and décor was important we wanted each table to look different and dramatic. We opted to have quirky candle sticks and table top lampshades (mostly from Dunelm) with fairy lights and foliage.
My mother set the tables exactly how I had envisioned them and with heyyholly assisting and the staff at Glazebrook.

A family friend made my cake which was unbelievably delicious, it was a red velvet base covered in butter icing and punnets of fresh blackberries and blueberries. We wanted something simple and feel it was in keeping with the vision and venue.

We have chosen to go away in the summer for our honeymoon to Croatia booked through @loveholidaysofficial but we will be going for a weekend stay to recharge at Malmaison Oxford, we have stayed in the Brighton Malmaison and enjoyed our stay very much.

There are too many memorable moments to put down, but spending the morning with my twin sister before everyone arrived was one, also taking time out with Dan before walking into our wedding breakfast, also my dad seeing me for the first time in my dress and seeing our children’s tears of happiness as we walked up the aisle.

Our advice to other couples would be:
Don’t take the day too seriously as only you will know if something goes wrong.
It goes so quickly so enjoy every second.
Make sure you take time out as a couple to reflect.
Plan early.
