Afternoon you guys 🙂
I have some amazing advice today from members of WWW sponsors the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners, on how to plan your DIY day. Now i know many of you WWW readers are DIY brides, so i asked the lovely UKAWP if they could give you some planning advice and they came up with this.
If you are having a DIY do or want to have crafty elements a wedding planner can still help you to arrange and plan your wedding. A wedding planner can take away the stress of more of the administrative and planning side to the day, letting you craft to your hearts content in the safe knowledge everything will run smoothly.
Images are from some of my favourite DIY tutorials, simply click on the image to take you to the tutorial.
Melanie Helen of www.cranberryblueweddings.co.uk says;
“Using our creative know-how and wealth of resources we can pull together a broad range of DIY ideas to help make your wedding unique, as well as assisting in sourcing everything that’s required. Even if you’re not planning to have a full DIY wedding then just by introducing some DIY elements it really can help to make your wedding very personal.”
Victoria Gordon from www.withoutahitch.co.uk adds:
“If a bride has created her own table centrepieces and therefore doesn’t have a florist to arrange them, then the wedding planner can help with arranging these on the day. (as well as other creative details)
If a bride would like to create her own invitations, we can let them know what does and doesn’t work and how to make something simple look elegant
We can advise on making sure they give themselves enough time to create what they want to without adding extra pressure by having to rush at the last moment.”
Carmen Yuen-Stevenson of www.carmenweddings.co.uk also adds:
“Many brides want that DIY look and feel to their wedding but because of busy lives, brides just don’t have the time in sourcing and making all the items. As a wedding planner, any decorative items from hanging arrangements such as hand-made pom poms to pretty favours, I can source – which in the long run will save couples time and money.
Some couples will always want to DIY some elements for their wedding to add that personal touch, and as a planner, together we can look and discuss which items are best to buy and which are worth spending time making at home.”
Nikki Foster of www.idodesignerweddings.co.uk has a different approach:
“Why not use a planner for all of the bigger decisions and running of the day, yet give it that personal touch with DIY design and stationery? This allows you to have peace of mind that the wedding will run smoothly with a professional looking after things, but you can give it all of the personal touches that will make it ‘your’ wedding. When we’re working in this way we leave the budget for the design element to the client as we can’t control what materials they buy to harness their creativity.”
Val Mattinson of www.benessamy.co.uk sums up:
“Wedding Day Management – after all the months of planning – Handing over their wedding planning folder full of lists, contacts, wants and want nots to a professional wedding planner to ensure that their day runs smoothly (and all the DIY elements are not left to DIY on the day itself) – allowing them to relax and just enjoy their day”
Melanie Kiani of www.bellissimo-events.co.uk suggests a couple of popular (and potentially less time consuming) DIY elements:
“Make your own place names- you can be quite creative with these then and don’t have to go with the traditional card place names. Writing on pebbles with chalk pens, tying labels to starfish or mini heart shaped chalk boards or what about mini photo frames with a picture of each guest inside rather than a name if you have the time! There are lots of great ideas that can then double up as favours, saving you money.
Giving away home-made favours is a wonderful idea as they are inexpensive and it means your guests can take home a really personal momento from your special day. One of our couples recently gave their guests honey from their farm for the men and homemade welsh cakes for the ladies.”
What wonderful advice, thanks so much girls. It’s definitely i great idea to look into having a wedding planner, even if you are on a budget. Check out the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners for some amazing wedding planners 🙂
Happy planning XOXO Lou
