Selecting a wedding photographer used to be difficult. Couples would rely on a friend’s recommendation or go through a lengthy process of contacting individual photographers. Very few photographers displayed their availability online and many didn’t display price either. The world is much simpler now and booking a photographer online is the norm. In this blog post, we’ll guide you through the process of choosing a wedding photographer, ensuring that you make an informed decision and find a photographer who aligns with your vision and style.
Full day packages range from £900 to over £3000 with an average of £1400. If you find a photographer you really like but want to reduce the price you can look for shorter packages. For example, a photographer who would cover a whole day for £2000 might do a half day for £1200. For details on how to use wedissimo to refine your search check out the About us page
Before you begin your search, it’s essential to determine your preferred photography style. Do you prefer traditional, classic poses, or do you lean towards a more candid, documentary approach? Are you drawn to a contemporary, artistic style or would you prefer it to photojournalistic? Understanding your desired style will help you narrow down your options and find photographers who specialise in that particular style.
Start your search by researching local wedding photographers. There are great photographers in every region of the UK, so it’s not usually worth paying additional travel expenses unless you really know who want. Check out profiles and review their portfolio. Look for consistency in their style, composition, and overall quality. Pay attention to their ability to capture emotions, details, and the storytelling aspect of their photos.
Check how many weddings they have done, how many years experience they have. If a photographer has less experience you can expect to pay less.
If you want to agree the photographer with your partner then try creating a shortlist. Click the heart icon above any listing to add it to your favourites and share it with your partner.
If the photographer profile doesn’t provide all the information you need then send them a message with any final questions.
Check what’s included in each photographer’s package. Check the coverage hours, the number of photographers present, the deliverables ( e.g. number of images digital files) and any additional services they offer (e.g. wedding albums or second shooters).
Check the photographer’s post-production timelines for receiving the final edited photos and ensure their delivery timeline aligns with your needs.
Use all the information available to narrow your search for a photographer and then trust your instincts.
