Intimate Farmhouse Wedding in South Carolina

As the nights draw in, allow us to transport you back to a sumptuous summer’s evening and catch a glimpse of Nathan and Kat’s beautiful South Carolina wedding.

This gorgeous couple had been together for a decade before Nathan got down on one knee and popped the question. What followed is the most intimate and lovely celebration that is entirely focussed on their love for each other without any gimmicks. Their day is effortlessly warm, classy and highly personal – the pair marrying on land that had been in Kat’s family for centuries and the whole celebration is bursting with hand-crafted and personal touches.

This is one loved-up pair, and these super images captured by Jessica Hunt Photography truly make it seem that the rest of the world has disappeared in this enchanting setting – there is just Kat and Nathan and their endless love for each other. I must just touch on how stunning Kat looks. I love that sweetheart neckline and the detail of the lace on the dress and edges of the veil that looks phenomenal when it catches the breeze. Beautiful.

FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHER | Sometimes you come across those couples who you and everyone else just knows they were MEANT for each other. This intimate South Carolina wedding is the wedding day of a couple like that. The kinda people who were meant to be, and there’s no doubt about it.

Today, I’m proud to introduce to you, Mr. and Mrs. Brick, and their stunning wedding held on Kat, the bride, family’s land and farmhouse. This land and home have been in the bride’s family since the 1700’s, so it was an extra special spot for her marriage to Nathan.

Kat and Nathan have been together for ten years now. Yes, you read that correctly, ten years. They were attached at the hip one month into meeting in 2007 and have been together ever since. It was always a running joke between them and the families about when they would get married, but it wasn’t ever a concern. Remember how I said everyone knew they were meant to be? When you take that into account, ten years doesn’t seem so odd does it? In fact, I kinda like it. They are sure about each other; they are sure about forever.

Kat and Nate have been each other best friend’s for so long, so it just made sense that they made the decision to have a more intimate wedding centered around them and only them. That meant, for them, to not have a wedding party on either side and to spend 30 minutes with me at sunset for portraits (insert praise hands emojis here), and it was perfect.

From the moment I arrived, everything had already come together beautifully. Kat was flawless; Nathan calm and excited. Their details were so them and real, yet magazine worthy. Their ceremony was outside her family’s home and poignant. Their reception was full of delicious BBQ and a stunning set of couples portraits. They ended the night with a sparkler exit.

All-in-all, it was perfect. I hope you enjoy my favorite frames from this intimate South Carolina wedding.

Notable details:

– This farmhouse has never been a wedding venue or held a wedding, and the bride pulled it off herself without a professional planner or coordinator.

– The house and land has been in the bride’s family since the 1700s

– Groom’s cufflinks are made from antique coins, a gift from his bride

– Groom’s socks had squirrels on them, and the couple has raised rescued baby squirrels together.

– Cake has clay figurines of each of the couples’ pets on it, as they are avid animal lovers

– Custom made ring box and antique engagement ring

– Bride wore her mother’s veil

– Bride handmade their favors, which were hand-poured candles for each guest

– Bride’s aunt made and decorated their wedding cake

– Private family land they got married on is called Brewer Plantation.

– Couple opted not to have a wedding party to ensure their day was intimate and only about them and their love.

HOW WE MET | We met at Earthfare in 2007

He was the chef there and I had just moved back into town and got a job at the juice bar.

We were friends and then started dating. We moved in together about a month in and haven’t been apart since

THE PROPOSAL | Ha! We’ve been together 10 years. I was always the one not wanting to get married… change bothers me and things were great the way they were. So, it was a running joke every time he said he had a surprise for me I would poke fun at him and say “ohhh, are you proposing now?”

Well, we took a vacation for the first time in years. We got to the beach around 10:00 at night and he insisted we go for a walk.

So, on the pitch black beach, he starts saying nice things to me, and of course I said “ohhh…are you proposing”… and he actually was. I didn’t believe him because I couldn’t actually see that he was on one knee with a ring. Eventually I believed him and said, Yes 🙂
