Ready for a super special London town hall wedding? I thought so! Introducing Sophie and Alistair’s micro wedding, which was held on the 20th September 2020 with 30 guests in attendance. They held their ceremony at the iconic Old Marylebone Town Hall followed by a reception at two different London venues. Their day was beautifully relaxed, intimate, fun and really very special indeed.
Sophie and Alistair both looked absolutely gorgeous; hello gold dress and dapper tux! Then there were the beautiful blooms, floral cake and simply stunning portraits by Helen Abraham Photography. Wow! I really think you will be inspired by Sophie and Alistair’s laid back approach and words of advice today.

As we were getting married under the 30 guest covid restrictions we wanted the day to feel really intimate but also super fun – everyone really deserved a good celebration! We wanted the whole day to feel relaxed and stress free so we could spend all the time with our closest family and friends.
We all had a delicious lunch at Scott’s before the ceremony, then ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall, followed by drinks and cake in a private room at 35 New Cavendish. It was perfect!
It was quite complicated due to covid! We had originally planned to get married in March with 100 guests, but of course we had to become flexible and open minded about everything as this year has been pretty turbulent for everyone. This was our third attempt to get married this year so we didn’t want to make any plans that couldn’t be rearranged easily!

Alistair wore his Tux (jacket and trousers from Hackett and waistcoat from Ede and Ravenscroft) and I wore a gold dress from Vince with 2nd hand Prada shoes (£40 eBay!) and a Shrimps hair band. I really wanted to have an outfit that I could wear again that felt special without being too ‘bride’.
I did my hair and make up myself.

We didn’t have any!
Again we didn’t have any formal bridesmaids, but my oldest friend Emma was like an honorary bridesmaid!

My friend Emma who is an amazingly talented professional musician was originally going to play the Oboe in for us in the ceremony, but due to covid she wasn’t allowed. So we played the pieces she was going to play: Bach cello suite no.1 in g major and Yanada by Ross Edwards.

Flowers by Ricky Paul Flowers – beautiful and exactly what we wanted!
My mum made it – it was delicious!
Helen Abraham – who was absolutely amazing!!! She was also so flexible and understanding with our multiple rearrangements.

We have postponed our original abroad honeymoon, but we did have a lovely few days in the English Countryside staying in some lovely hotels – such as The Limewood.
All of it!
Go with the flow and be flexible – we are living in uncertain times! And if you have a mini-covid wedding, be reassured that it was just as special wonderful as we could have hoped, and will definitely be one to tell the grandchildren!
