Moody Edwardian Winter Wedding Inspiration

Get ready to be transported back in time with this beautiful Edwardian-inspired shoot.

As an upcoming December-bride, I am totally biased about the wonderfulness of Winter weddings.  This shoot really puts a romantic, moody spin on an otherwise quite glitzy season – sumptuous velvets and furs with dark table linens and quirky details make this a real winner.  Don’t get me wrong, there is still a healthy dose of sparkle from the amazing detailing on the bridal gowns and there is such a sense of occasion with those fantastic veils.  I am totally in love with the gorgeous calligraphy and deep berry colour palette which have all been captured so beautifully by  L. Hewitt Photography.

This shoot really does feel like a snippet of days gone by without being in anyway outdated.  It truly is a real masterclass in delicate gothic, Edwardian elegance.  Enjoy lovely readers!

“We loved getting lost in the subtle magic of this winter wedding concept with L Hewitt Photography: a wish captured in a silver sixpence, a moment frozen between past and future. Our goal was to create an event with sparkling detail to evoke the shivery thrill of romance, yet just enough in shadow to entice the imagination.

The inspiration for the shoot was of an ice-bound Edwardian banquet. Designer Elizabeth Lockhart, White Glove Rentals and Rusty Love Vintage assembled luxe materials in a muted palette- lustrous sage velvet, shimmering gray linens, tarnished silver, mother of pearl flatware, and glistening glass place settings. White tapers spike up from raw quartz clusters like ice formations for an intimate candlelit ambiance, and sugared pear place cards invite guests to savor the sweetness of the evening.

The handwritten paper goods establish a sentimental mood, with ornately scrolled liners adding a romantic secret to each envelope. The invitation features Poppy & Scooter’s loose calligraphy and a deckled edge, reminiscent of an oft-read love letter. Our lucky sixpence coin inspired the wreath motif that frames the monogram and pewter wax seals, and also appears on the tabletop as an etched laurel trim on vintage champagne coupes and plates.

For extra gleam, we dreamed up a traditional tiered cake encrusted with crystalline sugar to catch light from Church & Company’s gothic stained glass windows. The cool elegance of the tablescape is tempered by gentle pink and gold florals in the lush centerpiece by Petal & Print. Leafy tendrils echo the garland theme, cascading from the bridal bouquet and crowning the models.

Anna Campbell gowns from Garnish Boutique that frost bare shoulders with icy embellishment and sheer lace are styled with fur for a touch of warmth. Makeup artist Michelle Heffner brought our blushing brides to life with luminous natural skin and berry-stained lips.”
