This movie wedding ideas editorial has made me take a fresh new look at Jurrasic Park. Why? Because it gives the perfect insight into just how to take a favourite movie and use it as a wedding theme.
For example, Smitten Weddings took inspiration from the mountain setting, the greenery and then used gold as the perfect highlighting tone. The results are just gorgeous! Of course, there are spray-painted toy dinosaurs you can spot too to add a nod of whimsical.
I really love the stylish bridal looks, the jungle style stationery, the hot chocolate bar and the divine florals in particular. Do take in all the inspiration from the fantastic images by Michelle Huggleston Photography below.

Jurassic Park inspired elopement in the Black Mountains
Your dream day can have any theme. This Jurassic Park wedding embraces adventure and nature with a dash of dinosaurs!
We want to show couples that they can have the wedding of their dreams whatever their tastes. Themed weddings can be classy and elegant; if you want to have a Jurassic Park wedding then why not! With the right suppliers, you can beautifully execute any idea. The most important thing about your wedding is YOU, so make sure your personalities shine through!

Jurassic Park is all about adventure and the magic of nature, so we utilised outdoor spaces and a gorgeous tree for the ceremony. We focussed on making the most of the dramatic Black Mountains outside and when the weather turned we had the stunning Lower House Farm barn. With our stunning real same-sex couple, we designed a cosy, intimate and romantic outdoor wedding. Our theme colours were lush greens, white and gold.
We took the key elements from the film and fed that into every element of the décor. The tablescape represents a lush, mountainous terrain with a focus on ferns and palm leaves. Nothing too perfectly placed leaving the setting a bit wild. The place settings were kept simple; we added gold dinosaur favours and embossed shortbread biscuits to include the stars of the film.
Gold cutlery and gold candlesticks add opulence to the table. Our cake stands in front of an impressive jungle backdrop and features a cheeky T-Rex taking a bite out of the cake. A hot chocolate bar keeps the brides warm as they enjoy each other’s company. Being outdoors is always improved by having a flask of something comforting!
The rural and secluded nature of the venue with its bountiful plant life lets you imagine that this could be Jurassic Park. As coloured mists roll in across the mountains, our newlyweds start the rest of their lives together.

When it came to beauty, we chose to enhance the brides’ natural beauty and they were given complimentary looks. Their skin tones worked beautifully with warm bronze and golds matching the theme colours, and dramatic eyeliner accentuated their eyes. For the hair, Sarah had a loosely plaited crown adorned with a bespoke golden hair vine and matching pins.
Rose Forrest, our talented hair and makeup artist, created something unique for Rachael – a beautiful, undone mermaid braid. Both styles represent an adventurous side to the brides. Rachael also wore a show-stopping gemstone tiara, which gave her a gorgeously dramatic and almost regal look.
For the outfits, we really wanted something elegantly boho and adventurous. For the fabulous Sarah, we went for Raya by MoriLee for the stunning lace detailing and its dramatic train. Worn with Sarah’s own Vans to add a touch of personality to the bridal look.
For the lovely Rachael, we wanted a more dramatic look so we got the Celeste jumpsuit by Bianco Evento which was the envy of everyone on the day! We were so lucky to work with such stunning outfits, provided by the wonderful Cotswold Frock Shop.
All the jewellery was hand-made and bespoke from Posy and Pearl. We went for gold, whites, and crystals to compliment the Jurassic Park theme and added delicate flowers to keep the femininity. Drop earrings and necklaces complemented the plunging necklines of the outfits.

We gave both brides their own bouquets, provided by the amazing Justine at Far Hill Flowers. Sarah had an abundant bouquet with large white blooms and wild stems. Rachael’s bouquet was more subtle with mostly lush green palms and ferns with small white flowers adding texture.
The brides’ aisle was adorned with small arrangements of delicate, fluffy greens and white flowers. The tablescape celebrated palm leaves, ferns, and vines, bringing life to the setting.
However, the centre-piece for the day was the large, overgrown, jungle backdrop created against the stone wall in the barn. Justine brought our Jurassic dream to life – bringing the jungle indoors. She built her masterpiece around a living tree and dressed it with abundant greenery, making it seem as though it naturally grew on that spot over many years. Stunning.
