Quirky Rustic & Hand Made Country Tipi Wedding

It really doesn’t get cuter than this lovely WWW readers, today’s real wedding feature includes a sweet pup, gorgeous yellow and pink tones and oodles of smiles.

Lisa and Mark chose to get married on the 8th August 2015 in a church ceremony followed by a magnificent tipi reception. Oh I do love the tipi, they just create such a special atmosphere and rustic vibe. Lisa and Mark complimented theirs with DIY bunting, vintage furniture and a brilliant rustic wooden bar.

My fave element has to be the pink and yellow blooms. Lisa’s bouquet was a show stopper and included succulents, billy balls, dahlias, roses, daisies and astilbe to name a few. Dreamy! There was stylish attire, (hello gents in tweed and trilby’s), sweet little ones and a horse and cart. WOW.

THE PROPOSAL | We were on a desert island in Mauritius when Mark proposed on my 30th birthday. After 9 years of waiting I thought he would never ask! I was so shocked I dropped the ring in the sand and was very close to watching it drift out to sea.

THE VISION | We really wanted something a bit different. We knew we didn’t want a traditional venue so as soon as we saw the tipis we were sold. Our vision was always relaxed, quirky, untraditional and something that would wow our guests.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We spent 18 months planning. We were so lucky to enjoy the planning process with Lisa’s parents who were as excited as we were. We were also extremely lucky to be able to utilise their talents. Jane, Lisa’s mum hand made over 150 meters of bunting, hand stitched all the napkins and made table runners amongst many other things. David, Lisa’s dad built the most incredible vintage bar, cheese cart and lemonade bar from potato crates which we now hire out to other couples so they can continue to be enjoyed.

BUDGET | We lost track!

THE VENUE | Mark’s uncle kindly leant us his back garden which was the most idyllic setting for the tipis. We arrived via horse and carriage from the church. The views were amazing and the tipis looked incredible. We could not have asked for a better venue. We had over night camping which meant we could enjoy breakfast with our guests the following morning.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Mori-Lee it was in fact the first dress I tried on! Veil, pearl drop earrings, bracelet and monsoon shoes.

FINDING THE DRESS | The first dress i tried on. I knew I wanted lace to fit with the vintage theme but never thought I’d go for a fishtail. As soon as I put it on it felt amazing, I tried a few others but knew all along it was my favourite.

GROOM’S ATTIRE | Tweed jackets, trilby hats, chinos, pink day cravats, pink braces.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | My auntie and one of my bridesmaids did our readings in the Church. The lead singer from our evening band kindly sang for us in the church whilst we signed the register. He sang Ed Sheeran Thinking Out Loud and John Legend All Of Me. We then had a live band entertain our guests for dancing into the early hours and then singing around the camp fire until we all retired to our tents.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had 4 bridesmaids and two little flower girls. The bridesmaids wore pale pink Mori Lee dresses with cream sashes and carried smaller versions of my bouquet. They organised the most amazing hen party for me at Royal Ascot ladies day and I’d couldn’t have asked more from them on our big day. They are all very close friends of ours and made our day extremely special. The little flower girls wore ivory lace dresses which complemented my own.

THE FLOWERS | We knew we wanted lots of flowers and our florist did us proud. We had a hanging flower ball above our sweetheart table. Cup and saucer stacks full of flowers on the tables. Jars of flowers hanging from shepherds crooks outside the tipi and many many more.

THE CAKE | Our cake was a complete work of art! It fitted our theme perfectly complete with cups, saucers, bunting and a tea pot on top.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | We met Matt at a tipi open event. I think you’ll agree he did an amazing job and captured the day perfectly. He took incredible photos of memories we’ll treasure forever. We also had a camper van photo booth which was lots of fun.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We spent months and months collecting the décor for the tipis. My mum hand made all the bunting, we had hanging lanterns, vintage furniture, lots of signs and props, a real royal mail postbox for our cards, out door games and much much more.

THE HONEYMOON | We wanted to carry on the outdoor theme so we rented a secured log cabin in Wales. We took our little dog and had a fantastic week the weather was extremely kind to us.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Watching everyone have the most amazing day with us. We’d worked so hard for the weeks leading up to the wedding and every single moment was special to us. So many of our guests commented saying it was the best wedding they had ever been to and we were so proud we had pulled it all off.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Don’t stress about the weather! This was my only worry throughout the whole planning process I lost track of how many times I checked the weather forecast and it really wasn’t worth all the worry!
