Happy Colourful & Stylish Boho Seaside Tipi Wedding

We’re channelling all the boho vibes today, thanks to Leoni and Sam’s real wedding story. Their day was held at John Bray’s Field, Rock Weddings in Cornwall on the 7th September 2019. They described their day as “happy people, full of love, colourful, ceremonial” and I have to say the atmosphere on their wedding day was just electric.

I think the element I love most aside from the happiness and love throughout has to be the very stylish attire. Leoni chose a crochet gown by Spell & The Gypsy Collective teamed with red heels and a veil. Wow! Meanwhile Sam looked very cool indeed, donning a Paul Smith vibrant green suit and pale yellow shirt. Then there were the bridesmaids in mismatched dresses teamed with pretty flower crowns. What did I tell you? So stylish!

Leoni and Sam were firstly married in a church ceremony before drinks from the back of a Landrover and then everyone walked up to the tipis to a delicious feast and dancing all night long. How perfect?! I also have to shout out about the stunning autumnal bouquet, which was just magnificent and the gorgeous cake creations too.

The Proposal

In Freemantle, Western Australia in November 2018 whilst on a year adventure travelling in a 4×4 with a roof top tent.

The Vision

Calculated chaos – clashes of colour and pattern.

• An early start with the ceremony in a small church (St Michael’s Church) on Porthilly Beach Rock, Cornwall at 11am.
• Drive the mark 1 Landrover (very very old) on the beach and serve champagne from the back straight after the ceremony.
• Walk up the beach and through a field to reception in tipis.
• Afternoon feast with 3 courses, sorbet, cake and speeches.
• Dancing alllll night.

The Planning Process

Lots of hours of organising. I suppose our choice of venue was trickiest as there was no building – we chose tipis in a field. We had to make sure there were enough facilities for all guests. But it worked out perfectly, absolutely nothing went wrong!

Budget

Not added it up! Worth every penny!

‘When a merry maiden marries’ read by David Chalmers.

Entry and Exit songs were the traditional ‘here comes the bride’.

The Details & Décor

My mum is the best and she made all the linen napkins for 130 guests.

We had long runs of tables and clear vintage glass vases full of exquisite flowers.

We hired vintage lounge furniture and displayed colourful candles in clear vintage glass candle stick holders. That’s about it. Kept it simple, but just enough colour.

Couldn’t choose – the entire day was so full of love and incredible food and such amazing music!
