What a delight it is to be joined by Matt and Sian who had their relaxed two-day tipi wedding extravaganza at Skipbridge Country Weddings, North Yorkshire in the summer. After restrictions reduced their guest numbers they extended their celebrations to last the whole weekend.
Their day was beautifully relaxed and intimate, with their nearest and dearest by their side. They were married outdoors under a wooden arbour and celebrated in magical tipis. They really heaped on their personality with cool attire (hello denim jackets 👀), gorgeous flowers and some rustic wooden decorations.
Amy Jordison Photography was there to capture it all and I can’t thank Amy enough for sharing these fun images with us below.

Christmas eve 2019 at Aysgarth Falls in the Yorkshire Dales. Where we went on our first weekend away together.
We always wanted a relaxed and slightly informal wedding surrounded by our family and friends. We originally had 130 day guests and another 50 for the evening however Covid-19 soon changed that. We really liked the idea of getting married outside, in a tipi, in a field.
Once we realised we were only allowed 15 guests we decided to go with a 2-day wedding, We are so pleased we did this as we were able to get more family and friends involved with the wedding and it just extended the celebration. We had the ceremony on Saturday and we had another meal and speeches on the Sunday with another 15 guests.
We had a look around Skipbridge and just loved its unique and slightly quirky set-up. We loved the little unique touches like the grain silo, the hobbit hole, even the llamas and we just felt it matched our relaxed vision perfectly.
The look of the tipis with all the lights and the fire pits – as well as the idea of an outdoor service, under the willow tree just was perfect. Skipbridge have done a great job over lockdown and have made the venue look even better adding a few more quirky touches like the ski cable car.

Matthew – With lockdown restrictions only lifting a few weeks before the wedding I didn’t have long to get my suit so I went to Moss Bros. I wanted a tweed 3 piece and saw it straight away, pretty simple really. They also had a teacher discount on so I go on that!
Sian – I got my dress from the Bridal Factory Outlet in North Allerton. When I tried it on, I knew it was the one. The fit was nearly perfect except for the length! I had to keep it a secret for over 2 years due to the lockdown!
The ceremony was under the willow bower which was lovely – the rain even held off… just. Things didn’t go quite to plan as the farm cat decided to pull Sian’s veil off as she was walking down the aisle haha.
The music was from Steven Heath. He performed an acoustic version of Yellow by Coldplay which was amazing. On the way back up the aisle he performed The Las There She Goes. He was amazing and learnt both songs especially for us.
The first dance was Lover Of The light by Mumford and Sons.
We cannot underestimate how much a part he played in our wedding. I don’t think I really thought how much a part it would play in the wedding but to be honest, it made the wedding. His interaction with the guests, his banter, his requests, and all done so naturally and professionally. He was amazing.

Amy Jordison Photography. Amazing. Captured the day perfectly and in a friendly and unobtrusive way. We are just so pleased we have the photos because they are such an amazing memory of the weekend.
Beautiful flowers by Melanie’s Florist – Castleford.

Originally had Bali booked but Covid-19 has stopped that. So we had a lovely 4 nights in the Lake district which we love. We were so lucky with beautiful weather. We stayed at the Lodor falls for 2 nights and the Daffodil on Grasmere.
Definitely try to do something the day after. We couldn’t believe how quickly the weekend went.
Don’t be put off by having a smaller wedding. We really loved how everyone was able to interact, both families were able to get to know each other due to the small numbers.

Oh my! So romantic.
Matt and Sian thank you so much for sharing your Skipbridge Country Weddings wedding story with us.
