Sky Blue Stylish & Relaxed Secret Garden Wedding

Emily and Timothy are one super stylish pair of newly-weds, let’s take a look at their wedding story shall we? They chose to marry on the 12th September 2015 at the local church followed by a back garden marquee reception at Emily’s parents home. It was stunning.

There was a sky blue and white theme throughout which was so very chic. Emily was all in white wearing a Maggie Sottero lace sleeved dress and fluffy white flower crown, while Timothy wore a vibrant blue blazer, bow tie and navy trousers. Gorgeous.

The giant letters were brilliant and the blooms simply beautiful. Such a special affair.

THE VENUE | Church: Holy Trinity Church, Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol, BS9 3EQ.

Reception: Bylanes, Eastfield, Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol, BS9 4BE (Emily’s parents house / garden).

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | ‘Debra’ by Maggie Sottero. Veil and headdress bespoke by White Willow Designs. Bolero – Ivory & White.

Shoes – Jimmy Choo. Bridal underwear – M&S.

FINDING THE DRESS | I went to several different shops within Bristol and the South West. I started at ‘The Mews’ in Clifton, Bristol which was a lovely shop and really started the process.

I then did a few other shops around Bristol, and fell in Love with the ‘Debra’ dress quite early on in my search, but wanted to keep looking as felt it was too early to commit and I wasn’t 100% happy with the service where I had originally found the dress! I then set about finding a shop which I liked and which also stocked the designer that I liked – Maggie Sottero. I eventually stumbled across ‘All About Eve’ in Chepstow, South Wales – now this felt right, my Grandma Eve (my mum’s mother) was buying my dress for me and so somehow this felt as though it was meant to be. I was met by a smiley Cathy who was absolutely fantastic and who reassured me every step of the way and made the whole process magical.

GROOM’S ATTIRE | Hand picked sky blue linen blend blazer, with navy blue Paul Costello trousers and waistcoat, Hugo Boss faint blue shirt. Silvery/grey pure silk hand tie bow-tie. Tan brogues from J.Shoes.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Music: Brides Entrance – Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel.

First Hymn – Lord of all Hopefulness.

Solo – ‘Just for you’ by the M people sang by Georgina Haworth (Emily’s Sister).

Second Hymn – Give me Joy in my Heart.

Third Hymn – Shine Jesus Shine.

Bride & Groom Exit – Wedding March from A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Mendelssohn.

1st Reading – Paths and Journey’s – Fraser Campbell-Wilson (Emily’s School Friend).

2nd Reading – 1 Corinthians 13 – Lyn Henderson (Tim’s Mother).

3rd Reading – Walled Garden – Stacey Clarke (Tim’s Sister).

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Georgina and Harriet (Emily’s younger sisters), Ona (Emily’s Sister in Law) and then Lucy, Kerry (Emily’s best friends from school.) Dresses from Chi Chi London. Emily also had her niece Elsie as flower girl. Dress from John Lewis.

THE FLOWERS | Bridal Bouquet – White Roses and Freesia.

Bridesmaid Bouquets – Dusty Pink Roses and Green Spray Roses.

Buttonholes – Single White Rose with eucalyptus.

Centre Pieces – A mixture of White and Pink Roses, Pink and Blue Hydrangeas, Eucalyptus and a mixture of other foliage which brought various different textures.

Garden Decoration – Hydrangea plants.

THE CAKE | Plain ivory icing with all butter sponge, then pink and ivory sugar flowers cascading down the side of the cake – Bespoke from White Willow Designs.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Greg Coltman Photography – Greg was amazing from start to finish from the first email, following Skype sessions, to the day itself. Many of my friends and family mentioned how relaxed he was during the day and made both myself and Tim feel really at ease. Navigating the day he was absolutely fantastic – the photographs are amazing, we love them all! Both the B&W ones and the colour ones! He captured and documented the day as it happened and created photos will never let us forget our beautiful day.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Bespoke from White Willow Designs.

THE HONEYMOON | 5 days in Sri Lanka, 7 days in the Maldives then 3 days in Dubai on the way home.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The church was amazing and was a particularly special experience for us both. After the ceremony, (as the reception was only a 5 minute walk for the guests) – Myself and Tim as bride and groom took a 20-30 minute drive just the two of us, which enabled us to appreciate that we were now husband and wife – this was a really nice moment, as time together on your day can be precious.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Picking the location and church was paramount in the planning of the whole day – we decided on this first and the
rest followed. Don’t underestimate the power of finishing touches – at our wedding everyone commented on the overall look and feeling of the day – White Willow Designs were fantastic in making our dreams and ideas a reality.

Make sure you document the day – invest in a decent photographer and videographer. Tim and I have loved looking over our photographs and video and reliving the day.
