From the gorgeous succulents to the dreamy outdoor ceremony, prepare to be transported by Kerry and Joe’s Slindon House wedding in West Sussex.
The vision for their nuptials was focused on the outdoors to celebrate their love of nature, cue greenery florals, earthy tones and gorgeous countryside portraits. They both looked incredible in their chosen outfits, not to mention how wonderful some of the details were.
I love the handpainted stationery, the divine semi-naked wedding cake and the dried florals. Wow.
Thanks ever so much to Sasha Weddings for sharing with us these sensational images of one very special celebration indeed.

We were staying in Cieza in Spain and we went for a long bike ride to El Valle de Ricote, passing by the peach blossom trees and lots of beautiful scenery such as mountains, fields, rivers and lakes.
When we got to El Valle de Ricote, we climbed a little way up a mountain for a picnic. After setting up our picnic blanket, Joe proposed. We were surrounded by buttercups, clovers and mountains. It was so beautiful.

We’d grown up around the South Downs and we both love nature and being outdoors, so a wedding in a field, overlooking the downs and with the sea far in there background was perfect for us.

We had an outdoor ceremony, conducted by one of our best friends. We’d done our ‘paperwork wedding’ (the official one) a few days before, with just 2 witnesses. We wanted our friend to do the ceremony so it’d be more personal and meaningful.
I walked down the aisle to Into My Arms by Nick Cave and we walked back down the aisle to My Baby Just Cares for Me by Nina Simone.

I chose a dress that was light and airy on the bottom and lacy and backless on top. I wanted something comfortable yet elegant. The lace was leafy and floral to reflect my love of nature. I also wore wedding Converse with blue soles and ribbon laces as I hate wearing heels and wanted to buy shoes I’d definitely wear again.
Joe wore a brown tweed suit, brown boots and his tie was the print of ‘The Strawberry Thief’ by William Morris. Like me, he wanted a hint of nature in his outfit.

Our photographer was Sasha (insta sasha_weddings). We chose her because she is an alternative wedding photographer and her shots are more natural and more like a documentary style, as opposed to lots of staged photos of family members together.
Our videographer was Ivan Berry (insta weddingsonfilmuk). He made a short real showing all the important moments of the day.
We’re so happy we chose Sasha and Ivan, as they’re both so talented and produced such beautiful work.

The table numbers were all different flowers that Joe and I like or that have special significance to us. I painted these myself using Indian ink, water and white acrylics. I also painted the designs for the table plan and invites. I do commissions for paintings and if anyone’s interested in hiring me to paint/design anything for their wedding, they can email me: kerry.georgina.joyce@gmail.com.
The cake was a semi-naked vegan cake made by Cloud 9 bakery, Brighton. The florist decorated it with succulents.
The florist was Natalie (insta amberlilys_wedding_florist). The bouquets and buttonholes were made up of succulents, as were the centrepieces. The arch we got married under was also decorated with succulents and white seasonal flowers.
We ordered dried flowers from Minna Blooms and dried lavender from Castle Farm Lavender Farm. We collected bottles for the dried flowers. My mum made macrame jars for candles. I made floral hoops for hanging, using flowers I’d dried myself.

We went on a mini moon to The New Forest as we wanted to be surrounded by nature and go for lots of walks and to see wild animals. Our honeymoon will be in Costa Rica but we haven’t planned it officially yet.

So very beautiful!
Kerry and Joe, I cannot thank you enough for sharing with us your glorious Slindon House wedding story.
