I have a feeling you’re going to absolutely love today’s intimate Sheffield wedding, particularly those Wes Anderson fans amongst you. WWW readers Anna and Jamie’s Fantastic Mr Fox inspired nuptials took place on the 30th June 2018 at the town hall and a small relaxed reception was held at the Chimney House.
I’m loving all the colour of their day, and Ellie Grace Photography has done a simply fabulous job of capturing the vibrancy and the gorgeous moments between our couple and their nearest and dearest. Thank you for sharing these wonderful images with us Ellie.
The Fantastic Mr Fox theme all started with our pair’s save the dates and it is carried through the whole day so tastefully. I adore the foxy cake toppers and the illustration on the table plan is just brilliant. Everyone told Anna and Jamie that the wedding was really ‘them’ which is exactly what they were going for.
I’m loving the outfits our lovely couple chose too. What a special experience to buy them from a husband and wife team. Anna plumped for a gorgeous Watters gown and don’t the groomsmen all look fab lined up in their chinos and waistcoats? Enjoy WWWers!

Jamie proposed on our one year anniversary and it was a total surprise! We had gone to Lyme Park for the day as I had always wanted to go, little did I know that Jamie had been sneakily planning the perfect place to propose. We went round the house and had a lovely afternoon tea (probably not too lovely for Jamie as he later told me he was so nervous he could barely think!) and then we walked around the gardens and into a lovely rose garden where Jamie got on one knee!

The vision of a Fantastic Mr Fox inspired wedding came from our love of Wes Anderson films and also the Save The Date cards I had designed for us, which had Mr & Mrs Fox dancing on the front of them, and we just decided to run with it! Our invites matched our save the date cards, as did the table plan. We had a fox bride and groom cake topper, fox bunting, mini bottle of homemade whiskey as favours with handmade “fantastic Mr & Mrs Ferris” labels, the flowers were inspired by the films colour palette. We loved how fun the vision of our wedding was and all our guests commented that it was very “us” which is just what we wanted!

We booked our ceremony about two years before as we wanted plenty of time to find a reception venue! It took us ages ? We’re both quite indecisive, we wanted somewhere that our guests would love but we also wanted somewhere that we both loved and that suited us as a couple. As soon as we saw the Chimney House at Kelham Island we fell in love. We loved the rustic and industrial feel to it. It was filled with plants which I absolutely loved and it had lots of little antique touches which Jamie loved as he’s an antiques auctioneer. We booked The Chimney House with just over a year to go until our wedding day and all the planning just fell in to place after that, we feel very lucky that we weren’t stressed out at all!

We both got our wedding outfits from Elsecar Heritage Centre, from amazing husband and wife team The White Yard and Tweed & Groom. Claire from The White Yard was an absolute dream, she made me feel so comfortable trying on dresses. I had tried a few on in different places and nothing had made me feel like how I thought a wedding dress would make me feel so I was actually quite disheartened by the time I went to see Claire but she honestly put all the excitement back in to finding my dress. The dress I chose was the very first one I tried on, I tried on more afterwards but nothing made me feel as amazing as that dress! It was the Lenora from Wtoo by Watters. Jamie and his groomsmen all chose gorgeous tweed waistcoats with chinos, brogues and lovely Liberty print ties and pocket squares. I also had a stunning head piece and veil both acquired from Claire.

My gorgeous bridesmaids were kitted out in ASOS dresses that I got in the sale! I loved the dove grey colour in contrast to their green bouquets.

We didn’t have any readings, or “live” music. For our ceremony we just chose songs that had lots of meaning to us, and for our reception we had loads of playlists that we switched between throughout the day.

Our cake was by Sara at The Bake Lab, we wanted a cake that everyone would be able to enjoy – we had a few vegans and a few people with various allergies attending our wedding and at first I thought it would be impossible to have a cake that everyone would be able to eat but Sara made everything so easy! The top tier was a vegan carrot and pecan cake with vegan frosting, and the bottom tier was a lemon drizzle cake. I wish I could eat it every day!

My flowers were by Kath at Of the Wild in Crookes. She created my bouquet, my bridesmaids’ bouquets, the buttonholes and corsages for my mum and mother in law. We gave her our Fantastic Mr Fox theme and she absolutely nailed it, the colours in my bouquet were stunning and the yellow and gold ribbons were an amazing touch.

We wanted our wedding to have a personal feel, so lots of the little details were homemade! Our wedding favours were little bottles of whiskey that my dad brewed and distilled himself, and labelled by my mum who made hand drawn “Fantastic Mr and Mrs Ferris” labels. There was fox bunting hung by our cake that my bridesmaid Emerald hand made, it was originally for my hen do but I loved it so much I wanted to use it at the wedding! We had an old antique suitcase that Jamie bought from his auction house for our cards, and we had little framed pictures of our parents, grandparents and other relatives on their wedding day surrounding our cake.

I’ve honestly never felt as beautiful as I did on my wedding day and I had the best two ladies to make that happen! My make up was by Emily Walsh (@emilywalshmakeupartist on instagram), she is my best friend’s sister’s girlfriend so I’ve know her for a few years and I always knew that I wanted her to do my wedding make up as she’s so talented! My hair was by the lovely Vicki Suddaby (@vickisuddabymakeupandhair on instagram) who was very good at making me feel calm and relaxed as by the time she was doing my hair I was getting jittery!

Our photographer was the lovely Ellie (Ellie Grace Photography). Jamie used to work with Ellie and when he showed me her work I knew straight away that she was perfect for our wedding! I’ve never been very confident and have always hated having my photo taken, but Ellie made me feel so comfortable and her relaxed style is something I absolutely love, her photos are something that we’ll both treasure forever.

We went on honeymoon five days after our wedding, we went to the south of France for a week and it was the loveliest holiday I’ve ever been on! We stayed for one night in a hotel in Montpellier and then we drove through The Carmargue to our villa in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue where we stayed for a week. We mainly spent our time eating, swimming, walking, drinking wine and playing cards (and eating some more)!

The food!
Our first dance.
Seeing everyone so happy (and drunk!)
Going to the pub after our wedding reception had finished and getting a few bemused looks!

Try and spend as much time together on the day as possible, it goes so fast that you’ll want to spend as much of it together as you can. We had a separate car (camper van!) to take us down to the reception so we could have a bit of time after the ceremony to take everything in. And try and have faith that everything will be just as you imagined it would be. I was so worried that something would go wrong but you have so many people around you that have helped to make your day perfect that it’s almost impossible that something catastrophic will happen. Just enjoy it, it’s honestly one of the best days of your life.
