Today’s wedding is a really relaxed and fun one and let me tell you, there is some real elegance to these rustic nuptials! Amy and James got hitched on the 13th September 2018 at The Tin Shed at Knockraich Farm in Fintry, very close to where they live. I’m absolutely loving their style, which is very unfussy and there’s also some rather impressive DIY on display!
The wonderful images of these nuptials come courtesy of The Gibsons Photography, Chantal and Scott. Thank you so much for sharing the beauty with us guys!
Make sure you take in all the details of this gorgeous wedding. Some of my particular favourites are the lace chair backs which Amy made herself and the DIY wooden signage, not to mention the absolute abundance of glorious foliage! I mean really, it’s easy to see why the foliage arch for the ceremony blew Amy away when she saw it! Enjoy folks!

We got engaged on Christmas Day in 2017! We had been together for over four years and had bought our home together a few years before. James had stored the ring in his sock drawer (in a sock!) and was still pulling the box out of the sock as he was proposing! It was so relaxed and lovely that it was just the two of us. However it was amazing that we were already planning on seeing all of our families that day so that we could all celebrate together!
The VisionWe always knew we wanted a relatively traditional wedding but one that no one would be bored at and there was enough going on/enough to see that would hold peoples attention for the day!
We are both home birds and quite sentimental so wanted to get married somewhere close to home and that meant something to us.

We were unsure what to do in our ceremony, however my family do like a good sing song, and we didn’t want a hymn as such so we decided that everyone would stand and sing Caledonia. My lovely brother-in-law Alistair Ogilvy sang Blooming Heather.

Even though it was short (nine months!), I LOVED the planning process! I knew exactly what I was looking for and if I couldn’t find it I would get crafty and try to make it!

Our families were extremely generous in helping us achieve our dreams, we couldn’t have got married so quickly without them!

Green Pea Studios – Amanda understood my vision exactly and brought it to life! All very very relaxed, I couldn’t get over the archway that was the backdrop to our ceremony!

My dress was a Pronovias wedding dress from Anne Pricilla Bridal in Glasgow. The girls at APB were so helpful, I tried on a few dresses and after each one Kirsty knew exactly why I wasn’t feeling it or what I was loving about each one. Eventually she almost knew what I was looking for before I did! As soon as I tried on my chosen dress I knew it was the one! The follow up appointments were so easy and even though my dress needed taken in a lot, nothing was too much hassle! Even re-stitching all of the delicate beading down the side!!
James wore his own kilt in Ogilvie tartan and hired his and the other groomsmen’s jackets and waistcoats from MacGregor MacDuff.

My usual hair dresser, Zoe Dallachy was luckily able to do our hair on the wedding day!
Jenn Mathieson Hair & Makeup did the bridal party’s makeup.
I couldn’t have asked for a better team! They both knew exactly how I envisioned looking and executed it perfectly. It was the most relaxed morning!

My lovely Aunty made the cake! We had no idea what she was creating for us but I couldn’t have imagined it better myself!

The Tin Shed at Knockraich Farm, Fintry.
We couldn’t have imagined a more suitable venue! It was so local to us (James and my dad have played rugby in Fintry for years) so we knew the area well. We would regularly head to the coffee shop for lunch before a game, however I had never seen inside the area where they hold weddings! As soon as we enquired and had a look around, we knew it was the place for us!

I did a lot of the décor myself. Chair covers, table runners, candles, favours, table plan, order of the day…I did it all. Our venue we amazing in allowing us to have the room as we wished – we did put a lot of effort into it but it was completely worth it in the end!
I would really love to mention our caterers! Bespoke. They were soooo much more than caterers, they made the whole day run so smoothly, we didn’t have to think about a thing! Our food was delicious, everybody still raves about it! It was in abundance and filled everyone up just enough!
Our band were also outstanding – Ernest. The dance floor was NEVER empty! Everything we requested they played, and if they didn’t play it it was on during their break – where the dance floor still was jam packed!

The Gibsons! I fell in love with their light, bright, relaxed style of photography! Chantal and Scott were amazing on the day and managed to cram in everything we wished for! We didn’t want too many staged traditional photos, everything flowed and was so relaxed. My Barrett family photo will always make me laugh! It just captures all off us perfectly, it is on the extreme of ‘relaxed family photos’.

We went to Italy for 5 days after the wedding. Neither of us had been before. We hired a little Fiat 500 and tootled about the Tuscany countryside after visiting Venice and ended up in Florence. It was beautiful! We have just booked to fly to Bali this summer which will be out ‘relaxing’ honeymoon!

There were soo many! The ceremony, the food, the dancing, the band, the speeches! If I did the whole day again there wouldn’t be one thing that I would change!

Relax and Enjoy it! Take in every aspect from planning to the big day! From doing a lot of the planning/stationery myself everyone really appreciated the little touches.
Take time away from it on the day and take it in. It is such a surreal experience having a day all about the two of you, just relax and everything will flow and work out!
