Bohemian & Autumnal Tredudwell Manor Wedding By The Sea

Lauren and Luke’s Tredudwell Manor wedding in Cornwall was an utter delight. From the coastal portraits to the gorgeous bohemian wedding theme, you’re going to adore their celebrations.

I so love their chosen outfits, which were really stylish. Then there were all the dried flowers, cool stationery, scrumptious-looking wedding food and all the little personal details. I also really love Lauren and Luke’s words of wisdom at the end of their feature, it’s well worth a read.

Tredudwell Manor Wedding

The Proposal

The proposal was planned, LA Observatory, sunset… and then came the dreaded LOCKDOWN. So what was a guy to do? Wait for it all to blow over? Or, after a drunken Zoom quiz, throw the table across the room, get down on one knee and do it right there and then in the middle of our little rental in West Hampstead.

Not the most conventional method I know, but it did have the desired effect.   I did then propose again about a week later when I finally had the ring (already picked out just the small matter of getting it – which I managed in the end). I then turned the living room into LA, candles, LA Observatory image on the TV, LALA Land soundtrack playing in the background. Much more romantic than the first time and what girl doesn’t want two proposals?

The Vision

Autumn has always been our favourite time of year. There’s a magic in the changing colours, the warm days with gentle breezes, and a sense of symbolism in the way the trees shake off old leaves in preparation to grow new ones. Cornwall has also always been a very special place to us, so we wanted to weave in nods to the coast as well.

The Venue

Tredudwell Manor in Fowey was the perfect place to hold our wedding. It was a beautiful blank canvas with so much charm, which made it easy to bring our vision to life. Being set up for both outdoor and indoor ceremonies meant that when the rain clouds appeared at the last minute, it was no problem for the ceremony to be relocated inside the venue, with the doors thrown open so we were able to keep the feeling of still being outdoors.

And when the clouds cleared, everyone was able to enjoy the stunning grounds and breathtaking views.

The Styling & Decor

When planning our wedding, we wanted to incorporate as many autumnal and coastal themes as possible. The flowers, decorations and outfits had autumnal colours woven throughout, the decorations were made up of dried lavender from summer, old books, rustic wood slices and candles that smelt like the sea. And with Luke being a designer, we were able to make all of our signage, menus, guest bingo cards and table names ourselves which saved so much money.

Our “cake” was a tower of locally sourced cheese surrounded by the most beautiful display of charcuterie we’ve ever seen. We approached the team at the Ship Inn in Lerryn as they’re renowned for their spreads and were completely blown away by the effort and detail they put into it.

Your Outfits

Lauren: I fell in love with my dress the moment I saw it. I loved the floaty sleeves, detailed embroidery and most of all, the long detachable train. It felt really special, without being over the top, which was what I was looking for and made me feel amazing too. I bought it from Morgan Davies Bridal in Hitchin who made the whole experience a breeze.

Luke: I must have spent the entire time we were engaged trying to find the right suit, nothing I could find was right, it was either far too expensive or the wrong shade, the wrong material – it was a minefield. I eventually stumbled upon Marc Darcy and fell in love with blue woollen tweed suit, it had nice little details and just felt a little different from your average three-piece.

The Ceremony & Music

We wanted to keep the ceremony short, sweet and simple with just our vows to each other and a couple of readings. Lauren walked in to the Schitt’s Creek version of ‘Simply the Best’ performed by the overwhelmingly talented John Adam’s Band and we both walked out to ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’.

We hired the brilliant Dan Ward and Sean White to capture our day. They were incredibly warm and professional from start to finish and worked together seamlessly throughout the day, coming up with amazing ideas and making us feel entirely at ease.

The Honeymoon

We booked a beautiful all-inclusive hotel in Crete, Greece a few days after we got married and spent a week drinking cocktails, enjoying spa treatments and eating the freshest seafood we’d ever had. It was a wonderful setting to sit back and relive the day through all the photos our friends had taken.

Memorable Moments

Our photographer and videographer took us to Lantivet Bay for a private shoot on the Cornish cliffs. Not only did the photos turn out great, but it was so nice to be able to enjoy a little pocket of time just the two of us, married at last, looking out over the sea, brimming with all the joy in the world and just taking it all in.

Advice For Other Couples

Your day will not be perfect – and that’s okay! Even after two years of planning, there were still elements that were out of our control.

We had to move inside instead of having the outdoor ceremony we really thought we wanted, the registrar didn’t perform the ceremony the way we asked them to and the entry music when we came in for dinner didn’t work out the way we wanted either.

But it was still the best day ever because we got to marry each other surrounded by everyone we love the most. That was what was most important. Everything else is just details.
