Tell couples about your experience and approach
I have been a full-time professional photographer for 25 years, starting out in the days of film and the darkroom. I worked as a photographer covering news, and corporate work for a news agency for 7 years. Then for 15 years, I worked as an accredited TV cameraman at Heathrow Airport supplying BBC, ITN & Sky with breaking news stories, royal coverage and political stories. Lots of variety with multiple assignments in the USA, as well as China, Kenya, Nigeria and the Caribbean. I love travelling!
I still photograph celebs during the week (hence the Liam Gallagher pic on my profile) for Shutterstock, and have been regularly published in all the national newspapers as well as OK, Hello, Grazia....any mag you find in a waiting room.

Weddings are all about people, and I like to photograph in a way that allows you to enjoy your wedding day with the people that matter - your friends and family - capturing the love, laughter and emotion. I find that taking a hands-off approach gels well with my press photography background. The candid, spontaneous moments - that's the first thing couples say they want from their wedding photography. I also photograph group shots, they are a must-have, and of course some lovely natural pics of the two of you.
Are you super chatty or will be you be a fly on the wall?
I am super chatty without a camera. With a camera, I am constantly looking for moments and listening to guests so I can anticipate reaction shots. I don't interfere and ask guests to grin at the camera. They are busy doing that themselves on smartphones. I will chat with Uncle Bob if he wants to talk about his camera gear (he will) but I am well-house-trained and will move on politely if he is eating into my important picture-taking time. I get the feeling some people hire me because I have photographed Lords and Ladies to Love Islanders. I am like a Kenwood Chef...a good mixer (Only Fools And Horses)
What can couples do to get the most out of their wedding photography on the day?
Choose your top priorities then choose a team of experts to execute your vision. Do all the planning beforehand, then on the day just let go and immerse yourself in the wedding experience.
What are your artistic influences?
I wouldn't say artistic influences but some great photographers you should look up are Sebastiao Salgado, Steve McCurry, Don McCullin, Helmut Newton and Alfred Eisenstaedt, none of which are wedding photographers...sorry. Wedding-wise, Jeff Ascough was one of the first documentary wedding photographers and started off the reportage way of shooting in the UK.
What was your favourite wedding shoot, and why?
A registry office wedding at York House in Twickenham. The whole day was very laid back, with 2 group shots and 2 couple shots. The wedding party walked along the Thames and stopped for drinks at a riverside pub, before catching a ferry across the river to Richmond Hill where they had a picnic. It was back to their house for pizzas and some music in their garden. The photos were featured on a major wedding blog. I like to think because they were good, but the bride was a Kate Middleton lookalike in a fantastic dress, so it might of had more to do with that : )
What kinds of moments are you looking to capture?
Sweet quiet moments the couple share, head-in-the-hand reactions to the best man's speech, tearful hugs between the bride and her parents, dance-floor goofiness, tears during the exchange of vows, the connection between people, unique fleeting moments, always expect the unexpected.
Why should couples choose you as a photographer?
My experience working to the highest level where you only get one chance to get the shot. The ability to get on with people from all walks of life, and a relaxed attitude. I never lose sight of the fact that it is your day. Live it how you want, I will not be dragging you away from family and friends every 5 minutes for a cheesy pic, interrupting the flow.
Have you won awards or been published in magazines?
An award from This Is Reportage, an international website showcasing the best in documentary wedding photography (notoriously difficult to win) plus a couple from Photographers Keeping It Real.
What is the most important thing to you when you photograph weddings?
To give great value to the couple by working hard all day. To have a smile on my face, always be ready to grab that picture and include everybody on the day. Not everyone is a party animal. I like to make sure that the shy couple sitting at the table during the dancing get a cute photo of themselves.
Which venues have you shot at?
Farnham Castle Surrey, Millbridge Court Surrey, York House Twickenham, Lauderdale House Highgate, Cavendish Country House Eastcote, Donnington Manor Hotel Newbury, Burnham Beeches Hotel, Royal Holloway College Berkshire, Warbrook House Hampshire, Coombe Lodge Somerset, Herons Farm Pangbourne, Wasing Park Berkshire, Friern Manor Essex, The Olde Bell Hurley, Milling Barn Hertfordshire, Pine Ridge Golf Course Frimley, The Barn Hotel Ruislip, The Casa Hotel Yateley, Quo Vardis Middlesex
What's the most important thing couples should know about you before they book?
I only shoot 1 wedding a week so I can deliver your wedding photos in 10 days. It also means I don't turn up to your big day burnt out after shooting 4 weddings in 5 days. Once you book you can contact me any time. I am not secretly holding down another job, this is my job. I can do a venue visit if you want to meet before the wedding day. Oh, and I talk a lot. Sorry in advance!
What is your bucket list for amazing venues you’d love to shoot at?
Babington House, Asylum Chapel, Aynhoe Park
