I’m an ethical and affordable London wedding photographer who works outside the ‘wedding industrial complex’. I shoot soulful, unsentimental, Wes-Anderson-esque wedding photography for modern couples who don't want to be photographed like they're in a cringey perfume ad. I've photographed well over 400 weddings, and have almost 200 verified five-star Google Reviews. As far as I know this is far more than any other professional London wedding photographer. I also shoot portraits and headshots, live music, and documentary projects too.
A bit of both! I'm not a ninja, hiding around corners with a telephoto lens! But neither do I ingratiate myself, and expect to be treated like a wedding guest! I'm there to work, and the best way to work with you and your guests is to be friendly, approachable and smiley, make a little light banter with anyone who says hi so that everyone is comfortable with me around, such that I can get on and take great pictures.
Honestly, my answer to that question is 'nothing'. Let me worry about all that, couples can focus on having a lovely day. I'll work my butt off to make sure you get the most oout of your wedding photos.
Too many to mention, but I'll mention a few: Filmmakers such as Wes Anderson, Nicolas Winding Refn, David Lynch, Jane Campion and Satyajit Ray. Artists such as David Hockney, Carravagio, Edward Hopper and Frida Kahlo. And of course photographers, such as Robert Frank, Phil Sharp, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Diane Arbus, Chris Killip, Nan Goldin, Sally Mann, Richard Avedon and Rineke Dijkstra.
One where the couple were surprised by their friends putting together a beautiful, heartfelt version of 'Feel the Love' by Rudimental, and is if it wasn't moving enough, a big brass band suddenly appeared on the first chorus, turning it into a massive, loved-up party. The rest of the evening still held on on to the magic of that moment.
I look for the humorous moments, but I always keep my eye out for anyone shedding a tear and I'll try my best to capture it. But overall, I aim to capture the joy of the day.
Lots of reasons. I have more Google Reviews than literally any other wedding photographer in the UK. At the time of writing, I have 199 Google Reviews, every single one of them is a five-star review. My background is in photojournalism and documentary work. And I have worked in the charity and human rights field for a long time. So things like equality, representation and authenticity matter to me. I reflect these values in my wedding photography. Which means, for example, that I don’t photograph brides as if they're fairytale princesses or grooms as if they're in one of those cringey monochrome aftershave ads. I find that style of wedding photography anachronistic. Throughout a wedding day, I just try to represent couples as equal partners, and having a blast with their family and friends. I try to bring further ethical dimensions to my work too. You’ve probably learned by now that your wedding or civil partnership is swirling in the vortex of the ‘wedding-industrial complex’, where there’s a ‘reassuringly expensive’ mark-up on everything. I try to keep my prices as low, fair and transparent as possible. The professional London wedding photographers whose work I’d compare mine to charge close to double my fee. You can see lots of transparent information about my prices and packages here. Something else I do is divert part of my fee to charity. So, for every booking, £25 of the fee is donated to one of my favourite charities - Bliss, WaterAid, the Trussell Trust or the Disasters Emergency Committee. In any given year, this raises over £1,500 for charity. I hold an MA (Distinction) in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from the London College of Communication. As well as photographing weddings I still work with charities and progressive not-for-profit organisations to tell stories about social issues.
No!
It's a privilege to photograph people's weddings. So, the most important thing for me is to work my butt off to get you great pictures.
