Are you super chatty or will be you be a fly on the wall?
I've been told on many occasions that I am a very approachable person, who is keen to find out as much as I can in relation to what makes my couples tick and what is most important to them when it comes to photography. My approach is fluid and flexible. I am discreet when I need to be so as not to distract the moments that unfold before me. I have a tailored approach and acutely observe situations to adjust my approach accordingly.
What can couples do to get the most out of their wedding photography on the day?
Plan ahead: Start planning well in advance to ensure all necessary arrangements are made, such as booking the venue, selecting vendors, and sending out invitations. Proper planning can help minimize stress on the actual day.

Create a realistic timeline: Develop a detailed schedule for the day, including specific times for different events. This will help ensure everything runs smoothly and allows for ample time to enjoy each moment.

Hire a talented photographer/videographer: Investing in a skilled photographer and/or videographer ensures that the day's precious moments are beautifully documented. Review their portfolios and communicate your vision to capture memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Delegate responsibilities: Assign trusted friends or family members to take care of tasks on the wedding day, such as overseeing setup, managing vendor coordination, or handling any unexpected issues. This frees up the couple to fully immerse themselves in the celebration.

Practice self-care: In the days leading up to the wedding, prioritize self-care activities like getting enough sleep, eating well, and managing stress. Taking care of physical and emotional well-being will help the couple feel their best on their special day.

Be present and mindful: Throughout the day, make a conscious effort to be present in the moment. Embrace the emotions, soak in the atmosphere, and enjoy each interaction with loved ones. Mindfulness can enhance the overall experience and create lasting memories.

Take breaks together: Amidst the business, find moments to steal away with your partner. Take short breaks to share intimate moments, exchange vows, or simply reflect on the significance of the day. These stolen moments can strengthen the bond and help create lasting memories.

Consider a first look: Some couples opt for a "first look" session before the ceremony. This private moment allows the couple to see each other for the first time in a more intimate setting, capturing genuine reactions and emotions. It can also provide a calmer atmosphere before the festivities commence.

Enjoy the celebration: Remember that the wedding day is a celebration of love and commitment. Dance, laugh, and celebrate with family and friends. Let go of perfectionism and embrace the joy of the occasion.
What are your artistic influences?
World news photojournalism, cultural events, bridal fashion
What was your favourite wedding shoot, and why?
I have a back catalogue of many wedding events, so it is a challenge to isolate a single instance. However, I will always be fond of my time in Kerala, India, where I had the opportunity to document a beautiful Indian wedding against the backdrop of where the core of my work originates from. I enjoyed the authenticity of capturing an Asian wedding in India.
What kinds of moments are you looking to capture?
As a wedding photographer, I aim to capture a wide range of moments to tell the story of the wedding day and preserve the memories for the couple. These moments typically include:

Getting Ready: I endeavour to capture candid shots of the couple and their wedding party getting ready, including hair and makeup, getting dressed, and moments of anticipation.

Candid Moments: I am skilled at capturing candid moments throughout the day, such as laughter, tears, and interactions between guests. These candid shots often showcase the genuine emotions and happiness of the couple and their loved ones.

What is the most important thing to you when you photograph weddings?
One of the most important aspects for me as a wedding photographer is capturing the emotions and candid moments of the couple and their loved ones. Wedding days are filled with joy, love, and emotions. Photographers like myself strive to document those authentic moments to convey the essence of the day.

Additionally, I often prioritize capturing the details and aesthetics of the event. This includes photographing the venue, decorations, flowers, and other elements that contribute to the overall ambiance and theme of the wedding. Attention to detail helps create a comprehensive visual story of the day.

Another crucial factor is creating a comfortable and enjoyable experience for the couple. I understand that my clients may feel nervous or overwhelmed, so I strive to build a rapport, establish trust, and make the photography process as smooth and stress-free as possible. By creating a relaxed atmosphere, I am afforded the opportunity to capture more natural and genuine expressions.

Lastly, delivering high-quality images that meet or exceed the couple's expectations is paramount for me. This involves technical expertise in photography, including proper exposure, composition, lighting, and post-processing techniques. Providing a well-curated collection of images that tell the story of the wedding is a key objective for me.
What's the most important thing couples should know about you before they book?
Style and Portfolio: Couples should be familiar with my photography style and review my portfolio to ensure that it aligns with their vision for their wedding. Different photographers have different styles, ranging from traditional and classic to photojournalistic or artistic. Browsing my portfolio will help couples understand my approach and the kind of images I capture.

Experience and Expertise: As of 2023, I have been a wedding photographer for 13 years. My vast experience should instil confidence and reassurance that I will handle their special day with professionalism and expertise.

Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication is crucial for a successful collaboration between couples and myself. I am aware that being responsive and accommodating helps build trust and a smooth working relationship.

Reviews and Testimonials: Couples should read my reviews and testimonials from previous clients to gain insight into their experiences working with me. The many positive reviews and recommendations I have received should instil confidence in my professionalism, quality of work, and ability to capture meaningful moments.

Availability and Booking Process: Couples should seek to know my availability for their wedding date and the steps involved in booking my services. Clear information about my booking process, including contracts, deposits, and timelines, will help them make an informed decision and secure my services in a timely manner.

Backup Plans and Contingencies: It's important for couples to know about my contingency plans in case of unforeseen circumstances, such as equipment failure or personal emergencies. I have backup equipment of everything, and at least another backup of that. I also work within a network of other skilled photographers who can act as a fallback if required.
