I love how laid back and carefree John and Lone were when planning their summer nuptials. They kept everything simple and true to themselves as a couple. Hoping to create a relaxed home made day they hosted the wedding in their friends garden in a pretty marquee.
Everything from the food and cake to the beer and tables were made by the couple and their loved ones. Lone went for a boho look with a flowing gown and flower crown while John looked dapper in his waistcoat and brown tweed trousers. Their day was so full of love, magic and happiness.
Thanks so much to the wonderful Kate Gray Photography for sharing these lovely images today.

THE PROPOSAL | I was naughty and got John talked into showing me the ring at home! Only because he had told me it was in the house hahaha! So he asked me as I was admiring it.
THE VISION | Low key, relaxed, home made.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | We just planned as well as we could. We were very relaxed about it all. Neither John or me had any grandiose wedding dreams.
THE VENUE | We had the wedding in our best friends garden. They are also our neighbours. We live in a beautiful rural area so it was perfect for what we wanted. All we got was a big marquee. We didn’t have a typical sit down wedding with speeches and so on. Everyone mingled the whole day/night.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | I bought my dress in Wallingford. They have a lovely shop there and the lady who works there is so good at finding just the right one for you.
FINDING THE DRESS | I found it the first time I went to a shop! My bridesmaids came with me and agreed instantly when I put the dress on 🙂
GROOM’S ATTIRE | John’s suit was handmade in Reading at Simon Dowling. We went together and chose it but I didn’t see the finished product on until the actual day.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | We opted out of any readings. We had a lovely singer called Tom Williams for a couple of hours. After that we played music from Spotify on speakers we had rented.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | 4 of my very good friends were my bridesmaids. They wore dresses from Debenhams in a beautiful dusty pink.
THE FLOWERS | We had lots of ideas from Pinterest so we sent those photos to our local florist. She knew immediately what we wanted and the flowers were just beautiful! We went for a very meadowy feel.
THE CAKE | My lovely neighbour who also hosted our wedding also made our cake. It was stunning and tasted like a dream! I was blown away with how stunning she had made it. It really was stunning. Clever woman.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Kate Gray Photography was the photographer for us. She is also a good friend and I knew I wanted them as soon as John and I discussed getting married. We even planned our wedding around the date they had free! I am a photographer myself so I am fussy, but Kate and Jon were as amazing as we had hoped for. We will cherish these photos forever. Thank you!
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We made almost everything ourselves. We made wooden signs, decorated pots for lavender, made tea light holders and cut big pieces of wood to put flowers on. We had a big marquee with lots of fairy lights on the ceiling. We also made a big table for the food out of reclaimed pieces of wood. The food was made by us too. We even brewed our own beer!
THE HONEYMOON | It is still waiting for us….
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The whole day was just beautiful. The sun was shining and everybody had an amazing day. The part I will remember the most is when we said our vows. We were both in tears. It was like we were in our own little love bubble. Everybody else just seemed to disappear around us. It was incredible.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | It’s hard to give advice because everyone has different dreams and visions. My words of wisdom would be: relax and enjoy every minute of it. Don’t get hung up on little things that doesn’t happen just the way you wanted it, it really doesn’t matter. Let your bridesmaids and friends take care of the little things while you have an amazing day with your partner.
