Nordic Woodland Elopement Wedding Ideas

We’re headed into the woods today with these seriously gorgeous woodland style elopement wedding ideas. Woodland weddings are certainly becoming more and more popular and it’s easy to see why, with the serene atmosphere, the beautiful canopy of trees and wildlife all around.

Keeping things paired back, the team focussed on a light airy feel to the décor, with a muted palette of whites and greys in the stationery, cakes and tablescape. It meant that the focus remained on the stunning setting and the abundant florals. The oversized bouquet really is a show-stopper, laden with greenery and delicate blooms. I also have to say that I am totally coveting the bridal hair style here today, the delicate boho plaits work really well and is super simple to achieve. Keep your eyes peeled for pretty macramé and the emerald green antique door too.

A Nordic Woodland Elopement

The inspiration for this shoot was a romantic woodland elopement with a Nordic touch. Taking place in early Spring, it was important that we kept things light and airy, despite the moody look of the barren trees and the darkness of the woods.

So together with stylist Lianne from Blonde Army, we decided to integrate lots of whites and greys in the styling, as well as airy foliage and beautiful hand-made macramé supplied by Half Hitch Macrame. We then made sure to emphasise the woodland look by adding berries, deep reds and dark blues in the flower arrangements and the oversized bouquet, beautifully executed by Stems and Bows.

We also used lots of moss, brass and black tapered candles in the tablescape and the cake stand. The large, free-standing door supplied by Purple Door Props added to the secretive, secluded vibe of the shoot.

For the groom, we opted for navy tweed and a floral shirt to bring the overall look more into springtime.

For the bride’s look, we wanted to channel the Viking vibe: wild hair and messy pleats combined with nude and understated make-up. Her dress by Aneberry Bridal was floaty with beautiful, intricate floral details at the top which fitted in nicely with the spring vibe we were after. Her beautiful headpiece was supplied by Eden B Studio, adding a touch of luxe to the otherwise very minimalist look.

True to the Nordic style, we decided to keep the crockery very minimalist, using simple white plates and silver cutlery. We then let the styling do all the talking, adding beautiful little woodland touches by decorating the cake and the individual plates with quail eggs, moss, berries and different flowers.

Sweet Fusions Cake created the semi-naked one-tier cake and the small cakes, which were purposefully kept simple.

Kensington Calligraphy provided the stunning stationery for the shoot, integrating white ink, velum and silk ribbon for a luxurious, understated look.
