Joe and Heather’s New Year’s Eve industrial Derbyshire wedding was nothing short of spectacular! From their epic confetti moment to the mild December weather and industrial-style venue, what a treat I have in store.
They crafted some lovely elements themselves, with the preserved flowers, watercolour stationery and candle centrepieces all being DIY projects. I adore the outfits; hello sequin gown, sage green bridesmaids and floral ties! Their whole day was effortlessly beautiful and filled with laughter.
Wyldbee Photography I can’t thank you enough for sharing with us these magical images, wow!
In the middle of lockdowns in 2020 we went on a little family holiday – we hoped for somewhere exotic but actually ended up in Whitby. We had a lovely day at the beach and Joe spent the day searching for the perfect place to propose, while I unknowingly ruined every suggestion.
When we got back to our apartment I sat on the balcony with our baby and a glass of wine, waiting for Joe to come out and join us. He called me back inside and when I got there he was down on one knee.

We wanted something relaxed but stylish – I was completely against anything “white wedding-y” I love old buildings and rusting styling so after we saw The West Mill nothing was ever going to beat it for us as it combined the perfect mix of relaxed but beautiful.
We wanted to spend our budget well, so invested it in the venue, great entertainment and loads of booze. Anything we could do ourselves we did, sourcing the flowers, table decorations and I designed the invites and stationery.

I tried on what felt like a million dresses. I never had “the one” moment but the dress I bought was the closest I came – it felt like a good match for a New Year’s Eve wedding. It’s called Lenni by Theia Couture from Pretty White Dress in Hale, Cheshire.
Joe – I wanted a bespoke suit to match the enormity of the days ahead. I found a tailor who really matched what I was after. Lloyd Hall Bespoke Tailor in Knutsford was very relaxed, but had a brilliant eye to detail. I can’t recommend him enough.

My Dad made a lot of the lantern table decorations and then decorated them with preserved flowers that matched the bouquets.
The cake was Loaf Manchester, we joke that Joe fell in love with Aiden there during lockdown when he started making cakes for NHS workers and has now turned it into a full-time business. We weren’t fussed about having a traditional cake so he was our first choice!
I struggled to find a florist that would work during the Christmas period. I really love preserved flowers so I bought them from various suppliers and my friend’s mum arranged them for us.
We didn’t really have a colour theme too much but the bridesmaids wore sage green dresses and all the invites and stationery were a darker green to kind of match. I chose the flower colours because I loved the mix of rich greens and burgundies with pops of colour.
It was never going to be a “matchy” wedding, we just went with what we loved and hoped for the best!

We are going to Mauritius in May although we have a 2 year so might not be a traditional relaxing honeymoon!

Joe thought his brother and family wouldn’t be able to make it to the wedding from Spain after they had tested positive for covid in the weeks leading up to the wedding. The evening before he had a phone call to say they’d all had 2 negative tests and were fit to fly on the morning of the wedding. It was a very emotional moment when Joe saw them at the wedding for the first time.
We loved our confetti moment, I’d bought a fairly substantial amount of confetti from Your Confetti as we had a large wedding but on the day the courtyard turned into a bit of a wind tunnel and all the confetti swirled around and up in the air. Then our little girl and nephew absolutely loved playing with it scattered on the floor.
The weather was also glorious for a December wedding! We were fully prepared to spend most of the day inside but it was actually really warm outside which was great.

Oh my, so so dreamy.
Joe and Heather, I can’t thank you enough for sharing with us your industrial Derbyshire wedding story, so very magical.
