Welcome to the warm and magical Shropshire farm wedding of Heather and Matt held at Stanford Farm. Their autumn day is what wedding dreams are made of. They had stunning dried wedding flowers, tasty food and fairy lights!

I adore their stylish outfits and the breezy portraits in the autumn gusts. There were super cute wheat and lavender centrepieces, a DIY macrame backdrop and the prettiest floral wedding cake too. It’s just incredible that they kept their day within their £10,000 budget too. Wow.

Thanks ever so much to Laura May Photography for sharing with us these superb images of one very special day indeed!

The Proposal

On a camping trip to Pembrokeshire, Matt surprised me with a ring on a rainy clifftop. We cuddled up outside our van with candle lanterns and I cried a lot.

The Vision

Originally we wanted it to feel like a summer fair… but Covid shifted our vision somewhat and we wanted toasty food, firepits, fairy lights and sparklers.

Budget

We tried to keep it below £10,000.

Your Outfits

My dress – Anna Kara from The White Closet in Manchester. I loved the wheat detail on the bodice and how delicate the gown was. It turned out the dress was actually called Heather. Boutique Alterations in Stockport added beautiful toile “wings” instead of a veil. They were brilliant fun in the wind!

Matt wanted to look smart without being overly formal. He wanted warm colours and chose the gold ties for himself and his groomsmen.

The Ceremony & Music

I walked in to “The Wind” by Cat Stevens, a beautiful song that featured on a lot of van trip playlists. It is also in one of our favourite film soundtracks.

We had readings from family and friends, and modified the traditional vows to suit the promises we wanted to make to each other.

The wind was whistling a gale outside (ironically!) But I didn’t notice for a second. It felt perfectly intimate and poignant without being formal.

Your Photographer & Filmmaker

The wonderful Laura May Photography took some great shots.

The Styling

We leant into autumnal styling, lots of dried red leaves, pampas grass and wheat, and all the bouquets and buttonholes were beautiful dried flowers that I’ve been able to keep.

Matt built a beautiful archway for us to say our vows under, from wood from trees in our garden.

Advice For Other Couples

Actually, a lot of the small details you stress about in advance don’t matter a jot on the day. Pick only a few things that mean something to you to worry over.

Book a childminder to attend. I really should have done that.
