Rustic Romantic Boho & Soft Wilde Lodge Wedding in Wales

A very warm welcome to Aimee and Aron and their drop-dead-gorgeous Wilde Lodge wedding in Wales. Their day truly was a delight from beginning to end, with a soft colour palette of cream and pale pink, teamed with punchy and stylish emerald green bridesmaid dresses.

They had a really rustic style to their day thanks to the country setting, natural materials and the barn ceremony. It was all just stunning. I especially love Aimee and Aron’s gorgeous outfit choices (those pink heels 😍), didn’t they look awesome?

Then there were the champagne pop moments, the fun first dance and Aimee’s special performance. How epic?!

Wilde Lodge Wedding

The Proposal

We went to our favourite beach in the Gower (Broughton) along with our dog Alma for a walk on a sunny April morning in 2021.

After ambling around for a while we stopped to take photos of our dog on a beautiful cliff top, and it was then Aron got on one knee and proposed. He had then planned for both our families to be at our house for when we got home to surprise me with an engagement party. He really did nail it!!

The Vision

We really wanted to find a venue that reflected us as a couple – somewhere informal and relaxed but still beautiful. We wanted to have flexibility to make the day our own but also to have a whole weekend celebration.

The food was really important to us as well as we are massive foodies and didn’t want traditional wedding food. We wanted the day to be carefree and fun with all our closest friends and family.

The Venue

We looked at about 10 wedding venues and none suited our vision so when we found Wilde Lodge we were so thrilled. We knew it was the one!

Wilde Lodge is set in the stunning Welsh hills and offers a gorgeous lodge, bell tents, a safari tent (a cooler version of a marquee in my view), a long indoor barn and a large outdoor barn, as well as lots of outdoor space.

For us, it was really important that we had various areas to use depending on the weather. We were really lucky and were blessed with May sunshine so spent most of the time in the gardens but it was so lovely to have peace of mind in case it rained.

Your Outfits

My dress was from Laura May Bridal and was designed by Enzoani, and my veil was also from Laura May in Cardiff. I decided on a short veil which is a little unusual with a long train but I loved the combination.

My shoes were pink slingbacks from Valentino and I absolutely adore them. My earrings were from Lily & Roo, long pearl drops.

Aron and the groomsmen got their suit jackets from Moss Bros. He is a very casual person so we didn’t want anything too formal. He paired the jacket with a simple white shirt and some chinos from M&S.

The Ceremony & Music

Our aisle music was a song from Schitt’s Creek which we love! An acoustic version of “Simply The Best” originally by Tina Turner.

My sister read a beautiful passage from one of my favourite books “Everything I know about love” by Dolly Alderton. After the ceremony, we had an acoustic singer performing who we actually found in an open mic night the year before and had never done a wedding. He was fabulous!

The evening band was a group I knew from school which made it extra special.

The Styling & Decor

Our bouquets and buttonholes/ceremony urns were all created by Wilde Posies. I can’t recommend Alex enough, she created my exact vision.

All the other flowers, decorations around the venue as well as the tables were done by my friend Billie. She did an incredible job at jazzing up the venue on a budget and we had so many compliments about how lovely the venue looked.

Your Photographer

Our photographer Vix was incredible. Very quick and efficient which meant we weren’t having photos done for hours on end, she definitely understood the assignment. I couldn’t be happier with how the photos turned out, she really captured the whole essence of the day.

The Honeymoon

We went to Zanzibar for 2 weeks and it was just the perfect location for honeymooners. The hotels we stayed in were just out of this world and we spent a fortnight swimming in turquoise waters and being pampered by the incredible staff.

Memorable Moments

A highlight for me was singing with the band. I’m a huge Shania Twain fan and the band learnt “Man I Feel Like A Woman” at my request. I surprised everyone there by singing it!

Another memorable moment was throwing the bouquet for my sister to catch it (she’s been with her partner for 10 years), she chased him around the garden after catching the bouquet.

Advice For Other Couples

Don’t feel like you have to do it all, you can pick and choose which elements you want to splurge on/exclude from your wedding. You don’t have to spend a small fortune to have a gorgeous wedding, you just need to be creative with your budget and call in favours from friends and family.

My advice would be to keep your guest list as small as possible. It helps you to feel more relaxed on the day and means you can spend more quality time with everyone overall.
