Romantic Ethereal & Timeless Limepark Wedding

Welcome to the beautiful and ethereal Limepark wedding story of Michael and Lindsay in Northern Ireland. Their day was a dream and you’ll see why when you clap your eyes on the sensational images and get stuck into their wonderful report.

I adore the peachy summer florals, Lindsay’s stunning gown and their elegant stationery. There were sparklers, confetti, ice cream, sea views and so many smiles that I’m sure you’ll adore their day.

Limepark Wedding

The Proposal

Michael proposed in December 2021, in our new home which we had just moved into after spending a year renovating.

The engagement ring was a solitaire diamond, gifted to him by his late Grandmother, and had been placed in a yellow gold band by his uncle who owns Gems Jewellers (Coleraine).

The Vision

Understated elegance. We didn’t want anything too over the top. We kept the daytime simple and classic but wanted to give our guests a proper party in the evening.

The Venue

Limepark was just what we wanted; small and intimate with great indoor and outdoor spaces.

Limepark has been extensively renovated; the manor house and other buildings were so quirky and beautiful. The venue was only taken over by a family in 2021 so wasn’t very well known. It was nice to be one of their first full season of weddings.

The staff were so patient and accommodating in the run-up to the wedding.

Your Outfits

My dress was a Martina Liana gown from White Gold Bridal in Broughshane. I tried on so many beautiful dresses in a number of different shops, but nothing felt as special as this one.

Dorothy was so helpful and guided me brilliantly to find the perfect dress. I loved the sheer bodice and the applique with the 3D flowers. To me it was just such a pretty dress; flowing material but still giving a flattering shape.

As my dress was so detailed, I kept my jewellery very simple; I wore my solitaire diamond necklace and small CZ drop earrings. It was really important to me that I looked like myself on the wedding day, and my hair and make-up girls did such a good job to ensure my look was natural.

The suits came from Freddie Hatchett in Belfast. To be honest it was the customer service we got there which sold the suits to us. The guys couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. Michael’s suit was made especially for him so fitted perfectly.

Judith’s bridesmaid dress was ‘french gray’ tying in with the stationery and candles. Our tastes are very similar and as soon as we saw a picture of it, we knew it was the one. It had a very ‘ballerina’ vibe, and echoed my dress being off the shoulder.

The Ceremony & Music

Our wedding ceremony was officiated by our family friend, making the service so much more personal. The church was on Portstewart promenade and we actually met for our first date right outside the church, never imagining that 4 years later we’d be back there!

The whole of July it rained but on the wedding morning, we woke up to glorious sunshine. From the entrance of the church we could see right over to Donegal – it was the perfect day. Our poodle Olive was brought to the church for some photos too. After the ceremony, we walked around the cliffs to have photographs taken where we ate our ice cream on our first date.

Lindsay walked down the aisle to “Maestro” by Hans Zimmer, played by The Cellists – a piece of music I have loved since I was 15. We also had 2 hymns. Signing of the register: ‘I giorni’ and ‘Passagio’ both by Ludovico Einaudi. Walked back up the aisle to Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty’s Waltz”.

The ceremony was very personal and we had friends and family involved with reading etc.

Your Photographer & Filmmaker

We found Sheena on Instagram, and loved how she was able to catch everyone’s emotions so well, and how natural, bright and colourful her photographs were. We had an engagement shoot in January and Sheena made us feel very comfortable and nothing was a problem for her. We loved how she captured the day and showed the pure joy and happiness we felt.

Harry at Hooked and Hitched was so friendly and chilled and really captured the fun we all had.

The Styling & Decor

I was recommended Kathryn’s Flower Barn (florist) by a friend and as soon as I saw her Instagram page I had to book her. I wanted to stick with pale pinks and whites to keep the look as timeless as possible. Orchids are my favourite flower so I made sure to have them included in my bouquet and on the cake.

Kathryn was so helpful and patient with me when I changed my mind 100 times. Kathryn was also able to supply the tapered candles in gold candlesticks. The tables in Limepark are long banquet-style tables.

We kept the cake very simple – it was made by my mum and sister because no one bakes better than my mum. Lemon drizzle, carrot cake and chocolate cake.

I designed all of the wedding stationery myself, from the save the dates, signage, order of service and thank you cards. I also used our engagement photographs to make the table numbers in gold frames. It was a little stressful, but the compliments were worth it.

The Honeymoon

We went on a “minimoon” to Jersey, staying at Longueville Manor. But we are planning a longer haul trip to Costa Rica in early 2024.

Memorable Moments

The moment Lindsay arrived at the end of the aisle and met Michael. We both took a big deep breath as in ‘ok we are finally here’. I think both of us grinned ear to ear the whole day.
Limepark gave us 20 minutes together while our guests were being seated. This was such a good idea to give us space to breathe and catch each other up on moments the other had missed.
Then walking into the room full of our family and friends cheering and clapping was so special. The love and happiness were palpable and we were so grateful for the effort that everyone made to be there.

Advice For Other Couples

In the run-up to the wedding, everyone told us the day would fly by; make sure to keep stopping at points throughout the day to look around and take it all in.

Do what will make the two of you happiest; everyone will have a great day regardless.
