Simple, fun and full of joy was order of the day for Lex and Chris. Their The Oystercatcher wedding in Greenwich, London sure hit their brief.
I love how they decided to take inspiration from Lex’s parents’ 90s wedding as well as cool 70s disco vibes. They choose browns and oranges, alongside some super cool touches. I’m looking at you vintage iced wedding cake, disco balls, fabric banner sign and stylish outfits!
From the sunset Thames portraits to the gorgeous flowers and mega-watt smiles, their day looked like a dream come true.
Thanks ever so much to B Photography for sharing with us these sensational images

Chris and I have been together for 7ish years and knew fairly early on that we could see a future together.
But before we wanted to get married, our main priority was saving for a home of our own. We completed in early December 2022 and on our first night in the house, he proposed!
I had just made dinner, a nice big bowl of pasta and Chris told me he had got me a housewarming present! The moment I saw that little box, I knew. It was perfect. Just us on the first night of our next chapter, in joggers and slippers. Dreamy.

The whole way through planning, I referred to the wedding as “Stevie Nicks Does Wedding” or “70s Disco”.
My parents got married in 1990 and it sounded so full of love. Lots of DIY, plenty of fun and surrounded by friends. I knew that was exactly what I wanted. They had oranges and dried flowers, which became the colours of our day too.
Chris let me have all the creative freedom, and the main input he had was naming the tables after cricket grounds!! We wanted simple and fun, and that’s exactly what it was!

We aimed for under £20k.

Our ceremony was at Danson House in Bexleyheath, and then we got a vintage routemaster to take the party to The Oystercatcher in Greenwich.

Our ceremony was really simple. We had the bare-bones legal ceremony in the registry office. Neither of us wanted to do our own vows, as we knew it would already be an emotional journey, so it was a no-brainer! We did however have one of my bridesmaids read “Wedding Poem” by Whitney Hanson which was as so special!
Music was a very important part of our day. Chris’ family are incredibly musical, with his sisters particularly being incredible vocalists. We chose 4 songs for the service, and Alex (my maid of honour) arranged them all, with Chris’ mum accompanying them on the piano and the girls singing.
My parents and I entered to the Jessie Ware song “Til The End”, and then Chris and I walked out to Bastille’s “Joy”.
For the reception, we had an acoustic set of our favourite indie anthems while everyone enjoyed their espresso martinis, and then after dinner, we had “The Nashville Heat” play 3 sets. We love weddings with live music so knew it had to feature in our day. The band were incredible and the dance floor was rammed all night! They even let one of our friends do his party piece of “21 seconds” by So Solid Crew!!

Chris’ outfit was simple, as I said, I had all the creative freedom! So I had a suit picked out on Moss Bros pretty early on, and ordered ties and pocket squares from Dickie Bows!
Mine was more of a journey. I hated the dress-buying process, long before I even began. I just didn’t know where to start. I went to a few bridal stores but didn’t enjoy the experience and didn’t feel particularly comfortable let alone beautiful.
Then I went to bridal shop where I played dress up in the archives and made a mood board in my head, but it was all way over budget!! After a few months, my mum suggested I tried Forget Me Not on the Isle of Wight (my hometown). I was sceptical, but it was the designer that made my mum’s dress and worth a try!
Gerry made me feel like a princess from the first meeting! I tried loads on, showed her pictures and together we designed my perfect dress! She is a magician and I felt so so beautiful!
Shoes, I had always wanted a pair of Loeffler Randall shoes, so an easy choice! My headband I found on Etsy. My mum had a dried flower crown so I wanted something that was a nod to that but with a modern take, and Casa Flores was the perfect small business.
Because everything was so detailed, I wanted my earrings to be simple, and so I chose simple pearls from Grace&Kin.

I knew I wanted relaxed, documentary-style photos, and when I found Bina’s Instagram I knew it had to be her! She has such a wonderful eye, and her photos are magical!

As I said, the vision was “70s Disco” so I began where every bride does and made a vision board! It had browns and oranges, disco balls and dried flowers. A nod to my parents’ wedding, with a twist of the disco which I love!
Tables were decorated with brown bottles and bud vases sourced from all over. I had vintage medicine bottles, empty ginger beer bottles and a few Victoria beer bottles (and a few cute ones from Oliver Bonas and Sainsbury’s too!). These were filled with all sorts of dried flowers which my mum foraged and dried herself! In between the bottles we had disco balls in a variety of sizes!
Signage was all me! I knew I wanted a lot of signage, and getting it done professionally was out of budget. My dad made all the wooden welcome signs and seating charts, and I painted them and did the vinyl lettering with a very kind friends’ Cricut.
I saw a TikTok when helping with my friend’s wedding earlier in the year about having a “wedding font” to make the wedding styling look cohesive and I think that was such a simple thing with a massive impact on our look!
Stationery was by Sundown Paper in a style Alaska. It fitted the vision perfectly!
Our banner was by the incredible Daydreamer Creative Studio, Tanya also personalised my jacket! I found her before we were engaged, and the banner was the inspiration behind a lot of the other design choices!!!
Flowers were by Coco and Bloom. I sent her my vision board, and she was so on board with it and created the incredible disco installation which went with our signage as well as beautiful bouquets!
The cake was by Bridies Cakes. She made my 30th birthday cake and I have followed her on Instagram for a while. Again, I sent her the vision and our shared love of Daisy Jones and The Six helped inspire the dreamy cake! It was a decoration in itself, honestly a work of art!

So so many! But my favourite moment was in the midst of the reception, we found each other, stood together and just took it all in.
It was just the best day, and our faces hurt from smiling so much!

We spent a few nights at PennyHill Park in Surrey straight after the wedding, but our big Honeymoon comes in April. We are heading to South Africa to explore Cape Town and go on Safari.
It’s our dream holiday and we feel very lucky!
