We are notonthehighstreet.com, an online marketplace showcasing over 2,000 of the UK’s best designers and small boutiques. We have thousands of beautiful and bespoke products that are perfect for wedding styling. We also have a unique wedding gift list service that allows our couples to choose special, quirky and personalised gifts that will be treasured for years to come.

{w} How did you get into notonthehighstreet.com begin?

Holly Tucker and Sophie Cornish had a wonderfully bright idea back in 2006: to create a place where you could find unique and carefully-handmade things; the kinds of things that you sometimes stumble across in cool urban markets, village fairs and tucked-away boutiques. They wanted to create a platform that would bring together these inspired small businesses and create an environment where shopping would be simple and exciting. Most importantly though, they wanted to create a one-stop destination for the most inspirational and wonderful products.

And so, for all the style-seekers out there, notonthehighstreet.com was born. The products our sellers provide are diverse and lend themselves perfectly to all gifting occasions. What is now our unique collection of wedding gifts and wedding styling products came about organically, and is better than ever.

The notonthehighstreet.com wedding gift list service launched in 2008. Since then the collection has grown enormously, with new products being added daily. In spring this year we relaunched with a brand new department and exciting features, such as our innovative list builder and a dedicated blog to provide daily inspiration for brides-to-be.

We also introduced wedding gift list contributions this year, which allows your guests to donate money towards your list; you can then put your contributions towards higher priced items, like a bespoke piece of furniture, or use the money to buy items remaining on your list after the wedding.

{w} What do you aim to achieve for your customers?

For both the wedding gift list service and the wedding styling products we provide – and indeed across notonthehighstreet.com – we aim to consistently offer our customers a wide selection of unique, high-quality and bespoke products. We are always striving to maintain the high level of customer service that we consider an integral part of our business. Our wedding list consultants are on hand to assist wedding list holders with as much or as little as they need, answering any questions they may have about our service swiftly and with a smile! Our customer service team are always available to assist any guests who would prefer to make gift list purchases by telephone, and are also more than happy to recommend styling products and advice for those looking for that something extra-special for the big day.

{w} What style is are your products?

Because of the nature of the business and the unusual and beautiful products we sell in abundance, we cater to a wide range of different tastes. Vintage is a popular trend at the moment, and we have a beautiful collection of vintage and vintage-inspired pieces on the site. Many of our products can be personalised and come in a range of sizes and colours, and each product page has the ‘ask seller a question’ button allowing customers to communicate with our sellers directly. Most sellers are more than happy to create bespoke designs, include personalisation or produce large quantities for you, upon request. If there’s a possibility they can help, they will!

Our gift list service is completely free to use. Our beautifully designed invitation inserts, perfect for providing guests with information about your gift list, are also free of charge.

{w} Do you have any tips for couples in selecting wedding styling products?

Our top tip is to look beyond the original purpose when seeking out styling items. See the potential in everything, whether it’s vintage cake stands decorated with wild flowers and used as centre pieces for your tables or a distressed frame to display your seating plan. Another important tip is to choose styling and decorations that you like and that reflect the kind of day, theme or mood you want your wedding to be about; not what you think a wedding should be like. When you look around your venue, you should be able to see and feel the unique tastes of you and your new husband in the way you have chosen to dress it.
