Farm Wedding Washington Beauty & Beard Photography Flower Arch Backdrop Ceremony

Welcome to the delightful Washington farm wedding of Hannah and Ben who were married outdoors on the 26th Oct 2019. They held their ceremony at the family farm before hosting their reception at a hotel. Their day was beautifully rustic and charming, with a berry colour scheme and some seriously beautiful flowers.

Hannah wore a vintage wedding dress she bought for just $25 and Ben wanted a more casual look with jeans and cowboy boots completing his look. It’s also great to see Hannah rocking her glasses on her special day and I am sure you will agree they both looked amazing.

Thanks go to Beauty & Beard Photography for sharing these fantastic images of a day filled to the brim with love.

The Vision

My wedding was the culmination of months of work contributed by friends and family from all walks of life. I had always dreamed of having my wedding at a local historic hotel that had been recently renovated. Shortly after becoming engaged, my soon-to-be husband and I took a tour of the place and fell in love. My vision for our wedding was a classic style with a country touch. The hotel fit the bill for the classic style for our reception and would allow for a place for our distant relations to stay the weekend of the wedding. We booked our date almost immediately.

My father, who is a cattle farmer, runs part of his herd on a beautiful piece of property not 10 minutes from my childhood home and only 20 minutes from the hotel. While the land had traditionally been used for cow sales and auctions, my father had the brilliant idea of cleaning up the place and making it a rustic barn venue. While I knew the inside of the barn did not work with my wedding vision, the pasture in front of it did perfectly. I had always wanted to get married outside and being able to do it in a place so near and dear to my father’s heart meant the world to me.

Your Outfits

As the months passed, we put in work finding the perfect table decorations, planning out the meal, choosing flowers, recruiting more and more help, and having so much fun. I was lucky enough to stumble upon my dress in a thrift store for only $25 and have a dear friend alter it perfectly. My husband, being a mountain man himself, only asked that he be allowed to wear jeans and cowboy boots. A concession I was happy to make since every other male in my family and the bridal party also desperately wanted the same thing.

Your Photographer

The year prior, I had attended 3 or 4 weddings for friends from high school. One wedding sported an awesome DJ, whom I hired for our reception. Another, the wedding of one of my best friends, sported a photographer. Kaitlyn and I both knew Jordan from high school and truly enjoyed working with him on her wedding day. Plus, the pictures were gorgeous! I knew that when I was ready to get married, I would ask him to be our photographer. Fast forward to our engagement and I knew I had to reach out to him immediately. He was quick to respond and informed me that his wife had joined his business and they were a photography duo. I was thrilled with this because having both a feminine and a masculine influence on the pictures, locations, and styles for my wedding day aligned perfectly with my husband and I’s relationship and preferences. They were one of the best parts of the day itself.

The Flowers

My mother, being a trained florist, artfully planned out and executed the decorations and flowers with the help of our extended family who also once worked in the flower and wedding business. She is to thank for the most breathtaking bridal bouquet. My godfather designed the arrangement on the arch under which he himself married us. The inspiration behind the flowers, colors, foods, and decorations belong to the first time my husband and I met. We met at Berry college, where I graduated from. I loved using literal berries and berry colors throughout every aspect of the wedding as an ode to our first meeting place.

Memorable Moments

The day before my wedding, the majority of our family had come into town, we were frantically decorating and preparing, my mom was designing flowers, we were moving benches at the barn, and panicking about the rain in the forecast. I woke the day of to a beautiful morning and told them that we would get married in the rain if need be, but we were having the wedding outside. I went through the motions of getting ready with my best friends, all of whom looked gorgeous in their dresses. My mom and sister-in-law went with me to get our hair done at the salon. I ate and played on the floor with my godson while my other bridesmaids curled their hair and gossiped about life. I loved every minute of it. I ate a ton of cookies lovingly prepared by my Nana. Then, all of a sudden, it was time to go. Time to leave the hotel, take pictures at the barn, and actually get married!

I was a wreck. I cried practically the whole day! I am a very sentimental person and the amount of help and love that was poured into our wedding was astounding. I truly had butterflies in my stomach as my friends shoved me and my dress into the car. When we arrived at the barn to take pictures, I calmed down a little as we took pictures and began to have fun again. Then, I saw my father and broke down. I knew I would be taking a new last name soon and not only leaving on my honeymoon, but moving an entire state away. It hit me how much I would miss him and my mom. From that moment on, everything was like a dream I was drifting through. Everything happened so fast and there were so many people around with so many things to do and see.

The most relaxed moment of the entire day was when all of our family had finished taking photos and were sent to the hotel for the reception. It was just Ben and I left with our two wonderful photographers, Jordan and Morgan. They had made taking pictures so easy and handled my in-laws like pros. They gave us a few moments to breathe and just enjoy being newly married together.

After that, it was back into the maelstrom. Once we got to the hotel, there was no stopping. The only reason we got to eat was because Jordan, our photographer, stood guard for a few minutes! But it was so much fun! There was dancing and hugging and eating and visiting and drinking and just all of the wonderful things that everyone dreams their wedding will be. The DJ was set to finish at 9 pm, but a bridesmaids’ wedding gift was extending the party for an hour. So, at 10, everyone started winding down and cleaning up. It was perfect timing because the rain finally came at that time. Ben and I went upstairs to change, came back down to have a drink with close family and friends and then quickly retired to our suite for the night as blissful exhaustion set in.

My wedding was a whirlwind, but it is a day I wish I could re-do over and over and over. Our marriage has been just as wonderful and I constantly look at our beautiful pictures hanging around our home of that day to remember the love and happiness that permeated the entire affair.
