I am thrilled to be chatting with WWW favourite’s HBA Photography this afternoon.

Hannah and Ben Appleby have been in business for about 8 years now, ever since their wedding in 2008. They work from home in their little Derbyshire village where they live with their 2 scruffy dogs.

They have been sponsors of Whimsical Wonderland Weddings for many years now and their weddings can regularly be seen featured on WWW, so when they said they were having a re-brand I was super excited to see the end results.

I’ve have had the honour of viewing a sneak peek and their new website is modern and fresh with oodles of links to recent weddings and styled shoots. Not to mention brilliant navigation with easy access to prices and testimonials. I love the fact that there are so many images and their photography is clearly outstanding. There is a great About Us page too that allows you to get to know Hannah and Ben all the more, with links to their Facebook page and other social channels too.

 

 

Could you tell us about your new look site and branding?

 

We decided it was time for re-brand; although we loved our old website and logo it was time for a change and we needed to move forward and keep things fresh for our clients. We wanted something clean that would show off our images, but also we wanted to showcase our albums, our Stop Motion videos and Ben’s sax music too.

 

We can often get so caught up in running the business day-to-day that it’s sometimes difficult to find the time to keep everything up-to-date, but with this new website and blog we’ve updated all the images, we’ve made a little video about our beautiful albums, we’ve added lots of gorgeous weddings and even some awesome styled shoots that we’ve been working on.

 

Our logo has even had a complete overhaul too.

 

So tell us more about you and what you do?

 

We were married in 2008 so we know how important photos are, but we also know it can be a little daunting to hire a professional photographer. So we like to keep the photography nice and relaxed, very little posing and we certainly won’t have you stood around for hours waiting for family photos – we want to focus more on the emotion of the day, the tears and the laughter too. We also like to provide a couple of really epic shots!

 

How do you price your photography?

 

We’ve always offered a Pick’n’Mix system which we’ve now renamed ‘Tailor Your Own’. This allows the couple to build their own photography package and build something that suits their individual needs.

 

Our advice on choosing a photographer…

 

• Always meet your photographer – even if it’s just over Skype, you’ll spend a lot of time with them on the day and it’s vital that you get on. That goes for any of your wedding suppliers really – the nicer they are the more pleasurable experience the planning will be.

 

• Love their style of photography, it may sounds obvious, but choose a photographer whose style you admire. Then you can relax on the day and let them do what they do best.

 

• Make sure you are able to see a few full weddings, not just 10 of the best shots – you need to make sure their work is consistently good across the whole day.

 

• Spend as much as you can afford on the photographer, but also be sure to have an album – in many years time when you have your own grandchildren you’ll have something full of memories to pass down to them – photos of your grandparents and your parents and you in your gorgeous dress looking impossibly young and gorgeous!! Who knows if a USB stick will even be relevant in 10 years time, let alone 60 years, but a beautifully crafted album will stand the test of time and technology and will be there to hand down to your children or grandchildren.
