Unique Railway Station Wedding with Pretty Vintage Touches

Siouxsie and Luke are gracing our pages today with their railway station wedding in Hampshire, which was held on the 28^th September 2019. Their day was ever so relaxed and thanks to their quirky venue, was truly unique too. They also added in some lovely vintage touches to create a very pretty style.

First up they married on the platform surrounded by their nearest and dearest, before celebrating their marriage in the wonderful marquee. Much of the decoration was DIY and I am sure you will agree it all looked spectacular. There were laser cut touches, brilliant signs, flowers in gin bottles and a sweetie bar to name just a few. What I love most though is the attire. Siouxsie looked stunning in her floaty beaded gown complete with veil, while Luke donned a tweed waistcoat and pink chinos, very dapper! The bridesmaids wore floral embroidered dresses and the flower girls looked so sweet with their flower crowns and wands.

The Proposal

At the bottom of the Eiffel tower 24^th November 2018.

The Vision

I’ve always loved the vintage touches but didn’t want it to become a theme, were both very relaxed and wanted it to be informal. There were no suit jackets in sight and the bridesmaids were in floaty dresses. I fell in love with the venue as soon as I found it, it suited our personalities perfectly. I wanted relaxed food and good music. We had a musician for the welcome drinks and an R&B dj for the evening.

The Planning Process

We originally booked our wedding for September 2020, but within two weeks of booking got an email to say the Venue would be closing after 2019 weddings! I was completely devastated as I just couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. The owner kindly agreed to let us add in a 2019 date making us the last wedding ever to be held there. We had 5 months to plan and organise a wedding but it was worth every second of stress. Most of the wedding planning and booking was done within a month.

Budget

We had a budget of 15k but it ended up costing around 18k.

The Venue

Horsebridge Station, Stockbridge, an old railway station where you get married on the platform while the guests watch from the other. There is a marquee in the grounds for the reception.

Groom/Best Man – Chinos and a shirt with a Herringbone brown waistcoat with arm cuffs. They wore a tie and cravat in a pink paisley print.

Your Outfits & Accessories

Bride – My dress was a Stella York Dress in Moscato, it was originally £1400 but I managed to find it in a sample sale for £600 two dress sizes too small so I brought it and fitted into it. It was floaty and elegant, it had cap sleeves which I had removed and replaced with flutter sleeves with beaded detail. I wore a draped veil and a 3 pin hair piece.

Beauty

All the bridesmaids and bride had their makeup done by Georgina Chambers Makeup by a lady called Annabelle @annabellehousemakeup she was amazing.

All of our hair was done by Michaela Humphreys @tanandhairhut there was a mixture of flower crowns and flower clips. Two had their hair up and two down.

The Flowers

The bridal bouquet and button holes were made by Sally Covell at Nursery Fresh Flowers, they incorporated roses, eucalyptus foliage, succulents, scabious seed heads and thistles.

I made the bridesmaids bouquets and the flower girl wands from faux flowers bought from The Range.

The Details & Décor

The table decorations were gin bottles with flowers and thistles, Succulents displayed in domes and gold-sprayed tin cans. A ration book style menu and a wooden place name. We had a sweet pallet wall with gold flower pots, I made all the décor myself. I made a wedding beer pong table that was huge hit with the guests. We had snack stations for the kids to keep them happy. We had small bottle of Jager for the Groom’s toast that got handed out by our front of house staff during the speeches. We had speeches form my dad, best man, maid of honour Kerry and groom.

Car – Vintage 1950’s fire truck called “Mabel” – he put the sirens on for the entrance, the kids got to play on it after the ceremony.

Food – Our food was an antipasti sharing platter and wood fired pizzas for main with the most incredible sides cooked directly from a landrover. They also made canapes for the reception drinks and mini brioche burgers for the evening.

Bar – Inside rustic bar, outside horsebox bar, served pimms and prosecco for the welcome drinks then became a gin bar in the evening.

Music – Reception drinks – Simon walker music, played a variety of songs on the platform he was truly amazing.

Evening music – DJ playing old school R&B tunes.

Front of House – Bennetts Bars, they literally did everything, all the details, food and drink service, we couldn’t have done it without them.

Bell Tent for the kids – This was one of the best things we hired it kept them all entertained.

The Cake

We didn’t have a wedding cake as such we had a cake table, the cakes were bought from @thetenthhole and included, red velvet, oreo cake, Victoria Sponge and Carrot. We also bought Blondie tray bakes from @coffeeandco_portsmouth.

The Honeymoon

Were off to Italy in April, we’ve hired a car to travel around cinque terre.

Bridesmaids

Bridesmaids Adult – They wore ASOS dobby dresses with embroidered flowers 2 in a lilac and 2 in nude pink colour.

Flower Girls – Monsoon dresses/cardigan and shoes. Gold pumps for the little one from H&M.

Memorable Moments

We laughed the whole way though the ceremony it was just the most perfect day.

Advice For Other Couples

Do everything your way, its your day and you shouldn’t have to compromise to please anyone. Enjoy it, it goes by in flash.
