Kylea and Stephen are with us today to share their romantic and intimate elopement in Las Vegas. It was important to them both that their wedding was small and stress free, so they jetted off with their nearest and dearest on the 2nd October 2018 to tie the knot. First up they were married in the lush gardens of Springs Preserve in a meaningful ceremony with their own handwritten vows. It made for a very emotional moment indeed. I just love their flower adorned backdrop to their ceremony too, it looked spectacular!
They then travelled to Honey Salt Restaurant to celebrate their marriage. The tables were set in a U shape to allow all to be social and they were utterly laden with pretty pink flowers, candles and soft fabric. The results truly were gorgeous. There were two chic cake creations, which were perched upon a gold and marble trolley, such a fabulous idea. There are so many personal touches that you aren’t going to want to miss folks.
Huge thanks goes to Kristen Joy Photography for providing these dreamy and light filled images with us.
Our proposal story is a bit of a silly one! We had a vacation planned that was in curaçao last December, and Stephen had coordinated with a resort to do a romantic dinner in a beachside villa and propose then. However, one day in September we were at home just cooking dinner and playing with our dogs, and during conversation one thing led to another and he just blurted out “Will you marry me?” We had been together for almost 8 years so I was just happy he asked – and the vacation made for a great celebration of our engagement!
Stephen and I always knew that we wanted a small, intimate wedding where we could truly spend quality time together and with those that we loved in a pretty stress-free setting. We have traveled to Las Vegas many times throughout our relationship, and love the city’s energy, so we knew we wanted to get married there. Though we wanted a small wedding, it was still very important to me to have beautiful flowers and photos, good music, and great food. That’s why it was so wonderful to find Emily with Las Vegas Desert Elopements – her design style fit my vision perfectly. I wanted to keep things soft and romantic but also appropriate for autumn, so I kept that in my mind throughout the planning process.
This part was a breeze for me since I had Emily! I found her, and then she introduced me to all of my vendors and helped me through the design process. The toughest part for me was finding the right spot for our reception dinner that fit the vision.
We chose songs to be played by a string trio, premiere wedding music, during the ceremony. I walked down the aisle to “I get to love you” by Ruelle, and we exited to “Starlight” by Muse. Having a string trio was the most important thing to Stephen as he has always been very big into music, and I’m so glad we did!
We chose to write our own vows to each other, and it made for the sweetest moment! Stephen cried throughout his, and I loved seeing the emotion he expressed.

I had my hair and makeup done by Beauty By Brianna. I wanted to wear my hair down and wavy because, again, it is how I feel most “myself” and I knew I would be happy with the outcome! As for my makeup, I wanted to keep things neutral colored with a more natural-glam look. We doubled up on lashes for a bit more drama on the eyes and I loved the outcome.
My dress was from a boutique in north Texas called Bridal Boutique Lewisville. It wasn’t what I had pictured myself in, but as soon as I put it on I absolutely loved it and felt so “myself” in it. It was the first place I looked and I tried on about 12 dresses total. I was the most anxious about this part of planning, so it was a huge relief when I found the one. I also chose a long veil to top it off and heels from Badgley Mischka.
Stephens tuxedo was from Suit Supply in Houston. He has always loved the look of a perfectly tailored, classic tuxedo and wouldn’t have gotten married in anything else.

Kristen Joy Photography – again, a dream to work with. She is the sweetest and has an absolute eye for taking beautiful photos and capturing moments organically.

City Blossoms did our flowers and were an absolute dream to work with! They got our vision perfectly.

I wanted to keep the ceremony décor fairly simple, with a lot of pretty flowers. We chose to do a welcome sign as well as a sign in honor of Stephen’s brother who passed away a few years back. We placed it on his chair that was decorated with some greenery and flowers, and I loved the sentiment behind that detail. The ceremony took place in a nature preserve, so it didn’t need a lot of décor to make it look beautiful!
For the reception dinner, I wanted to have U-shaped tables so that everybody could mingle together during dinner much easier, and so we could converse with all of our guests. We chose wooden farm tables with a table garden on the head table and center pieces in gold compote vases on the 2 other tables. We had custom menus made from Minted and tucked them into blush napkins. One of my favorite details was our place cards. I stained wood pieces, tied them with hand-dyed ribbon, and one of my friends who has a calligraphy business made them beautiful with each of our guests names. They turned out better than I could have expected! We topped each place setting off with a single flower, and used a lot of candles to keep the romantic vibe. We also had custom luggage tags made for everybody since it was a destination wedding, and I loved how they turned out.

We are actually honeymooning as I’m filling this out! We are spending 2.5 weeks in Spain, the south of France, Greece, and Italy!
I walked down the aisle with both my brother and father, which was such a sweet moment for me.
Our vows were the most memorable thing for both of us. On the day before, we were both SO nervous and questioning why we decided to write our own but we ended up really enjoying expressing our love to each other in front of our closest family and friends.
After we finished up photos at springs preserve, we had a few minutes alone before our car left for the reception dinner that we just hung out drinking out of a champagne bottle and giggling. It was so fun and I’m so glad it happened.

Plan your wedding in a way that fits you! It’s hard not to get wrapped up in what you see on blogs and Pinterest (and it’s so great to take inspiration from), but if you stay natural to yourself and y’all style as a couple, it will be a perfect day!
