Hive fives to Matilda and Charles for pulling off the most beautiful Wandsworth Town Hall wedding, despite changing their original dream plans due to the pandemic. What they achieved, was so very beautiful and all for a £10K budget which is pretty amazing especially given their London location.
They wanted a minimal ceremony but following they hoped to achieve Vegas vibes, by bringing in fun neon lighting, a very cool cake creation and glitzy decor. The result was marvellous and so filled with happiness. I must also rave about their stylish outfits, Matilda and Charles both looked incredible!
A big thank you goes to Andrew Brannan Photography for sending over these vibrant and happy images for us to enjoy.

The only real surprise around the proposal was when it was going to happen. I (Matilda) was facing a 30th birthday at the peak of the 2nd lockdown so making it special was already difficult. I did wonder if Charles would propose but when he handed me a huge cardboard box to unwrap that contained an at home tasting meal kit from Lyle’s restaurant in London, I accepted that day was not the day.
To my genuine shock though, hidden amongst all the ingredients was the ring!

Neither of us are particularly into being the centre of attention, so never wanted to make the ceremony the main focal point of the day. Originally, we planned to get married on our own in Las Vegas as part of a larger US road trip, then throw a party with all our friends and family back in London. We wanted great food, great drinks and great music without the more traditional wedding formalities.
In the end the US trip wasn’t possible due to travel restrictions, so instead had a small ceremony with our immediate family before the party in the evening.
We didn’t start with a specific budget in mind but knew it couldn’t be high, it ended up costing around £10k.

As we were in strict lockdown at the time we had to choose a venue by photos alone. We settled on The Elgin Pub in Maida Vale which we booked without ever stepping foot in. It was the exact urban feel we wanted, with its exposed brick walls and stripped back look.
For our plan B ceremony, we chose Wandsworth Town Hall near where we live, and also had lunch at The Selkrik in Tooting with our families.

Our ceremony was super minimal so just had the basics. For the evening we had the amazing Disco Freaks DJ until the early hours.

My dress – I came across the American designer Orseund Iris on Instagram and fell in love with the only dress they make. I loved it immediately and it was the only one I tried on (which was lucky considering fittings weren’t allowed at the time).
Charles got his suit from Percival, one of his favourite menswear brands and a dark green tie (both of our favourite colour).

Our photographer was the incredible Andrew Brannan. We loved his documentary style which portrayed the exact non-traditional, low key feel we wanted for the day. It was an easy choice for us as we had witnessed him at work at my twin sister’s wedding earlier this summer.

For the ceremony, I bought a ready-made bouquet from Grace and Thorn and a buttonhole for Charles, which was deep colours and eucalyptus which we love. We kept it simple and didn’t have any decorations at the ceremony. We wanted the evening to be a party and there to be a disco theme. Luckily the space in the Elgin has lots of exposed bricks walls and cool artwork so we just added disco balls and foil curtains to bring the party vibe.
Our cake was made by the wonderful Nez – Made By Nez – I have been following her Instagram for a while and couldn’t wait to commission her to make our cake – we loved the brightly coloured flamboyant cakes and felt it met our party theme really well.
As we weren’t able to get married in Vegas we bought a little bit of Vegas to the party and hired a Wedding Chapel Neon sign from Gods Own Junkyard which was amazing next to the bright pink wedding cake.

We will be going to America next year as long as travel is allowed, for a 3 week US road trip which is our honeymoon.
For our mini moon we went to Paris for three days straight after the wedding on the Eurostar.
A surprise speech from my twin sister!
Just focus on what are the most important parts of the day to you both – we just wanted a party, good music, food and drinks – and wouldn’t have changed a thing.

Just epic!
Matilda and Charles I can’t thank you enough for sharing your amazing Wandsworth Town Hall wedding story.
