AN ADVENTUROUS ELOPEMENT IN SICILY
With a distinctive contrasting landscape of volcanic rocks, blue seas and vivid greens, Salina is one of the seven Aeolian Islands and a true hidden Sicilian gem.
This elopement inspiration is all about the free-spirited romantic couple, the modern adventurers looking for a unique and unexpected destination to celebrate love and their true sense of adventure.

The details tell the couple’s story but also that of the destination, letting nature and the surroundings drive the aesthetic choices. There are nods to the local culture with the amphorae and antique tiles; to the sea with the use of hand dyed textiles and shells – some of which found in the sea that is now their backdrop.
It’s all about meaningful design that brings together a wonderful mix of creatives based in the UK and Italy – some living in Salina all year round.

The hand-illustrated and painted elopement announcement and map will transport the recipient straight to the destination. The wording on the announcement intentionally and proudly in the present, moving away from the secrecy around elopements.

The day starts with a relaxing, stylish and delicious locally sourced breakfast on the beach. Elopements are MORE… more time for each other, more of who you love and what you love. A fresh palette of white, blush and neutral tones contrast the dark colours of the majestic rocks, as the couple enjoy a truly unique and special moment.

For the ceremony set up we took inspiration from the local flora, foraging a mix of dried and fresh plants, such as branches of caper bushes, sea squill and dried artichoke flowers. We wanted to let nature onto the space whilst feeling and looking authentic.

The dinner and cake display is where the intimate setting really comes into its own. The breathtaking views are further enhanced by candlelight and a magical sunset. When it comes to sunsets, Salina NEVER disappoints!

The amphora a ‘common’ item found in many houses, is styled with delicate flowers and set against the beautifully handcrafted imperfect ceramics; a nod to the contrast of the volcanic land with the white buildings typical of the Aeolian Islands.

A delicate white cake with colourful flowers and a banner that reads Sarah Kay’s words: “There is nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shore” perfectly captures this moment.

Goodness me, so gorgeous!
