Having a blog on your wedding photography website is important for both marketing and connecting with couples looking for a photographer.
From an SEO point of view it can increase the keywords you rank for and also help to keep your site fresh with new content being regularly published.
Not sure what to include in your blog? We have rounded up lots of different ideas to ensure your blog is full of useful and fresh content.
First off and the easiest most obvious blog post idea is to share recent weddings you have shot at, you have plenty of photos, you were there, you know the couple and the venue so in terms of blogging this is certainly one you should be doing. It shows couple recent weddings you have captured and can then be shared on your social media platforms too, such as Facebook and Instagram.
Don’t forget when sharing weddings online, try and tag the suppliers used in the post too, this will help it get more views and shares, and subsequently seen by more couples looking for a photographer.
Depending on your client and where you are based, you may have captured lots of weddings many times at the same venues. If you have then you could write a post on that venue and feature photos and weddings you have captured there.
This allows you to show couples who have booked that venue that you have shot there before and they can then see photos you have taken there too. It is also great for your SEO as it helps couples find photos of venues they maybe looking at and getting your work and name in front of them.
You may offer an engagement shoot as part of your packages or as a service, if so share recent engagement shoots on your site. Couples can see your style and what sort of photos they would get.
You want your couples to know a bit about you, share some of your favourite photos of the year, share some behind the scene shots of you at a wedding, or what you get up to when you are not shooting,
There are lots of other article and content ideas you could add to your blog, from FAQ style posts, common questions expanded into articles, offer your tips and advice on wedding planning, things to consider or perhaps interviewing other suppliers you have worked with to share their tips.
If you want to focus on destination weddings then share posts relevant to this, top venues in Lake Como, hiring a destination wedding photographer, share weddings you have taken in Italy.
If your style is quirky and alternative then keep your blog in that style, speak to your audience and the types of couples you want, and that would hire you.
Most posts will be aimed at helping couples but how about sharing your expertise and knowledge with other photographers or perhaps some looking to get into the industry. Share your story, how you got into it, how you built your business and the steps you took, and the pitfalls to watch out for.
You are not blogging for the sake of blogging, do it for a reason, ensure what you publish is useful, engaging and of benefit to your readers and couples. Tell a story of the wedding and about the couple.
There are plenty of things to include, set up a plan and timeline for when you want to write and publish these, when you have some downtime take some time to write these and then schedule them during the busy periods so you don’t have to worry about it. Don’t forget to share on your social media platforms and again you can easily schedule these in line with when they appear on your site.
