We’re at Ness Gardens in Liverpool for the gorgeous garden micro wedding of Chloe and Will who tied the knot on the 10th October 2020. Their day was small, intimate and cosy, set in Chloe’s hometown at a venue she visited as a child. Isn’t that just so wonderful?
Choosing a wedding venue that has meaning makes a wedding all the more special. It’s all about the sentiment, memories and milestone after all. Sadly due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, Will’s friends and family couldn’t be there in person, but they joined them zia live stream so they could be a part of their day. It was a very special day indeed I am sure you’ll agree, not because Chloe and Will looked amazing, but because they had infectious smiles all day long.
Emma Hillier Photography I can’t thank you enough for sharing these sublime images with us today.

Will and I had travelled up to the Isle of Skye in Scotland for a road trip getaway in August 2019. It was Will’s second time visiting the UK from America. We were hiking up off the beaten track in the most beautiful spot on the Quiraing, and when we stopped to have a picnic Will had written me a letter to read. We were dating long distance at the time, with me living in London and him living in New York. I had been writing and sending letters to Will between our visits to each other and I always mocked how he never sent me any back! In his letter to me he wrote about our relationship and the future we planned together. When I finished reading the letter I looked up and there he was with the ring!
We were a “lockdown” wedding, so it wasn’t quite the wedding we had envisioned when we first started planning after the proposal! We wanted to keep it small anyway, but the pandemic made it even more of a micro wedding! I always wanted to be married in my hometown and somewhere outside in beautiful nature, and so Ness Gardens was a perfect fit.
Unfortunately because of travel restrictions, Will’s friends and family weren’t able to be there, so it was also a virtual wedding on his side! Luckily one of my cousin’s was happy to be in charge of managing Zoom so that his family could watch from America.

My dress was from Cherish The Bride in West Kirby. I was so lucky it was my first appointment trying on dresses, and I found my dream dress after only trying on maybe 3 or 4!
Will bought his suit from Thomas Farthing when he was visiting London for Christmas. It was a dark navy herringbone stitched suit, his favourite pattern.
We had a harpist playing whilst I walked down the aisle, and she played while our guests mingled after the ceremony.

Our photographer was the amazing Emma Hillier! We met at an open day at Ness Gardens. She had photographed at many weddings at Ness Gardens so she was the perfect choice for us!
We were so lucky that the Red Fox (where we had our reception) allowed us to have a space to ourselves to celebrate with a meal and drinks after the wedding with our small number of 15 guests. We decorated the tables with greenery from our florist and my mum took charge of getting rustic table decorations.

We had a mini moon in Brecon Beacons, in a Mongolian yurt! It was so beautiful and we’ve never seen so many stars at night.
During the ceremony there was a downpour of rain for about 1 minute, we saw that as a cleansing blessing!
After the reception, we went back to the bar in our hotel with a couple of my friends who came up from London. When we walked in in our wedding outfits the whole pub went up in applause and gave us lots of prosecco on the house! The response from the locals was so beautiful, it was such a happy day.
A small intimate wedding can be just as fun and just as beautiful as a big one!
