This afternoon is all about dapper style for the gents. We’ve been lucky enough to feature some super stylish grooms and groomsmen here on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings and we thought we’d share some of our fave looks, trends and attire for you all in one sharp space. Grooms, especially those who wear a suit every day to work, often want to wear something different on their wedding day. Here is our guide to groom style and a few ideas for how you can make your outfit a little different.
A simple way to distinguish your wedding day outfit from the one you wear for the 9-5 is to add a waistcoat. This is a really smart look and remains ever so dapper even when the jacket comes off, you might even want to consider losing the jacket altogether if you are getting married in the summer. Matching waistcoats or a contrasting colour work equally as well.

Depending on the season you’re getting married in, you might like to switch up the material of your suit. If you’re getting married in the summer perhaps you’d like to keep cool in linen, or keep warm in wool or tweed for the winter.

You can really change the look of your outfit with what you put at your neck! Bow ties can either be extra smart as part of black tie or convey more of a Mumford & Sons folky vibe if they’re coloured or patterned. Brighten up a plain suit with a floral or patterned tie, or if you want to look really relaxed, opt for no tie at all.

Whether you go all out with a coloured suit or just want to mix up your outfit so jacket and trousers don’t match, it’s easy to inject a bit of interest into your outfit with some colour. You can match the general scheme of the wedding or maybe make a statement with something bold!

Dapper gents will know all about those little touches that can really make your wedding outfit. Braces, pocket squares and even some brightly coloured socks. Think about what you would like to add to your outfit to show your personality or perhaps even nod to the two of you as a couple. These grooms have all finished their outfits off in style.

Maybe you want to really throw caution to the wind and buck tradition with a completely different outfit. The sky’s the limit but you might feel inspired by some of these grooms who dare to be different. Whether you’re getting married somewhere hot and want to wear shorts, you’re inspired by history and want to don a medieval waistcoat or really go wild with a Hawaiian shirt, you can really let your imagination run away.
