Do weddings get any more chilled and funny than The Mowbray wedding of Amy and Dave?! I think not folks.
Amy and Dave’s wedding totally captured the essence of doing you, they planned their wedding to represent them as a couple and I must reiterate their advice at the end of this feature to “be brave“! It’s so true and the authenticity of their celebration really shines through, it’s full of love and smiles all day long.
They were hitched on the 21st September 2019 at The Chimney House, Sheffield followed by a good old knees up at The Mowbray. The industrial venues were stunning and needed little decoration. Live music (hello karaoke instead of first dance), gorgeous outfits (LOVE Amy’s floral wedding dress) and lots of candles, all completed their stunning day.
I cannot thank Photography34 enough for sharing these utterly beautiful images with us today.

In Barbados for a fabulous holiday, we went out for a little bit of shopping one day and ended up choosing an engagement and wedding ring! A week later, Dave had picked up the ring, and whilst enjoying a lovely cocktail or two looking out over the sea at sunset, he officially popped the question… That night we went out with some friends to a wild street party in the local town to celebrate!
We really just wanted a small wedding and then a huge knees up, with plenty of amazing food, and to cut out any unnecessary fuss. And for everyone to have a lovely relaxing day!
We chose the Chimney House for the wedding ceremony and breakfast, then its sister venue the Mowbray for the evening party, both in Sheffield’s Kelham Island. It’s a favourite haunt of ours, we love the industrial setting and knew the venues would put on a really special day.

Amy’s vision was to be a non-traditional bride, so she chose an entirely colourful Dolce and Gabbana outfit, sourced entirely from outlets, sales and eBay. Dave decided to push the boat out and have a bespoke suit made at Ted Williams, a Gentleman’s outfitters in Sheffield. We didn’t have a formal best man, ushers or bridesmaids, so our nieces acted as flower girl and ‘best maid’ so they could pick their preferred outfits – including mini trousers to match the groom’s for Eryn, and a Monsoon dress for Ava.
Luckily the Chimney House had recently been licensed for weddings on-site, so we had a small civil ceremony for 30 people, followed by a wedding breakfast of champions. In the evening, having moved across to the Mowbray, we had fantastic entertainment from the Monotones, a local band – who let the bride sing Valerie with them instead of going for a formal first dance, as it had been the karaoke song of choice on the night of the engagement!

The amazing Tony from Photography34 was with us for the full day and took us for a walk around Kelham Island to capture the best of the surroundings on such a beautiful sunny September day. There were so many lovely pictures of us just laughing our heads off.
To be honest this was the area where we were the most low key. A friend’s wife made our lovely llama cake, and a friend’s mum did the beautiful Dolce-esque rose bouquets and hair decoration. Apart from that, we let the venues speak for themselves.

Off we went to a sea villa in the Maldives for 10 days of sun and snorkelling in an island paradise, kicking up our heels and relaxing whilst enjoying all the sea life. Idyllic…
Walking down the aisle, both having super-happy tears and knowing this was going to be a mega-emotional day. Strolling around in the sun all loved up to capture some of our favourite memories (including some with our dog Rupert). An equally funny and weepy ‘wife of the bride’ speech from Amy’s BFF Sam. The groom’s drunken dance-off to ‘Uptown Funk’ culminating in a knee slide across the dancefloor…
It’s your day – you do what you want to do, so cut out anything that doesn’t feel like it’s worth your effort. The most important and memorable things aren’t likely to be the napkins or the seat covers, and you don’t have to feel like you must invite everyone. Be brave!

Wow, wee. Does it get any better?
Amy and Dave thank you so much for sharing with us your gorgeous Mowbray wedding in Sheffield. Just so gorgeous!
