This month’s collection is all about Documentary Wedding Photos, capturing moments, emotions, and stories of the day.

Photo by John Steel Photography – I offer unlimited coverage at a wedding. This photo was taken at 1:33 am at Woodlands Hotel in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Some guests had decided to go into the bar and have a sing-a-long around the piano; however, the excitement was obviously too much for this guest.

Photo by Magia Obrazu – It was a great moment when the groom spontaneously toasted his colleagues during the reception.

Photo by Magia Obrazu – Justyna and Piotrek decided to take their first trip as a married couple on a boat. These few minutes were just for themselves while all the guests travelled on another big ship.

Photo by Mark Wallis Photography – This wedding at Venetsanos Winery on the Greek island of Santorini took place on the same evening as one of England’s World Cup matches. The dance floor emptied as the guests took to their phones to keep up with the action as the match neared its conclusion.

Photo by Mark Wallis Photography – This bride almost held it together long enough to get through her ceremony at Bruisyard Hall in Suffolk. However, the tears began flowing as soon as she faced the groom and read her vows.

Photo by Nick Brightman Photography – It seemed like such a lovely idea: the bride and groom riding back from the church in a tractor driven by the bride’s dad… until he stalled it!

Photo by Tony Hart Photo – Candice and Ed disappeared shortly before their first dance at Hampton Court House. It turns out they’d snuck away for one final rehearsal. I captured this moment just before they came down and did the dance for real. I love the combination of necessity and romance in this image. They’re rehearsing in a corridor for lack of a better location, yet the dress and morning suit—not to mention the twirl—give the whole scene a real sense of Fred and Ginger.

Photo by Benjamin Stuart Photography – The bride arrived in a gorgeous but very tiny vintage Fiat 500 for her barn wedding. It was raining cats and dogs, and the ushers came to her rescue with an army of umbrellas.

Photo by Sam & Louise photography – You’re 8. It’s a wedding. Why wouldn’t you be running around with a sack on your head?

Photo by Sam & Louise photography – There are plenty of things that people don’t tell you about wedding days. One of them is just how difficult it can be to get into wedding attire!

Photo by Special Day Wedding Photos – I love using available light when documenting weddings. Sometimes the light isn’t great, but other times it’s perfect. I adore this shot of Jo getting ready.

Photo by Doville Gail Photography – Breastfeeding your child while getting ready for your big day shows an incredible bond.

Photo by My Love Momentz / Ivan Lim – A special moment when the bride say Thank you to her parents for bringing her up.

Photo by Liam Carroll // ZT Photography – The bride shares a giggle with her dad, captured at Samlesbury Hall, Lancashire.

Photo by Pedro Filipe Fotografia – This picture was captured during the dance party. In this photo, the groom’s uncle is dancing in the middle of the floor. It was crazy but very funny.

Photo by Simon Dewey Photography – Documentary photography excels at capturing the lighter moments that we might otherwise miss. Here, a pageboy sniffs the confetti while a flower girl laughs. ~Taken at St Albans Church in Derby.

Photo by Simon Dewey Photography – For me, documentary photography is all about capturing strong emotions naturally. This was Nikki and Matt during their first dance at Anstey Hall.

Photo by Andy Turner Photography – Susie calms a few pre-ceremony nerves with a drop of Prosecco. Susie married James at the Vermont Hotel in Newcastle.

Photo by Nabis Photographers/ Chiara Ridolfi – It was amusing to assist with the groom and his best men getting ready! They had trouble with the tie and were helping each other out.

Photo by Nabis Photographer – I was in Santa Marinella, a beautiful seaside town near Rome. The bride was getting ready when the makeup artist suddenly fixed her makeup. The light was amazing, so I took the shot.

Photo by Ebourne Images – This candid image was taken at Paul & Zane’s wedding preparation. Being a talented hairdresser Paul did his own hair … Shooting from behind him allowed me to capture his concentration and excitement. This images become one of my favourites from their wedding …… Congratulations guys! x

Photo by Spotyphoto – Their expressions say it all—married life can be quite busy and full at times. And you don’t need everything to be perfect to be happy. 🙂

Photo by David Stubbs Photography – Here we have a typical morning of bridal preparations, but the story is told within a single photo. To the left is the dress, at the back is the bride, to the right is the bride’s sister, and in the centre are the bride’s mother and her three grandchildren, who are also the bride and sister’s children. This is a documentary image because I wouldn’t be creative enough to pose this, even if I tried.

Photo by Andrew Billington Photography – Storytelling documentary wedding photography is all about revealing the relationships between people. As a casual observer, you don’t need any information beyond what is contained within the photograph. Here, we can all recognise an emotional moment between two people; they just happen to be mother and son at a wedding.

Photo by Andrew Billington Photography – Catching these unscripted moments is what a wedding is all about for me. In the Lancashire village of Lydgate, high up in the hills, as Natalie left the church, a gust of wind caught her veil. I quickly turned to capture the moment. It’s the bridesmaids straining to catch the veil that makes the photo for me.

Photo by Art by Design Photography / Steve Wheller – The first dance is always a great time to capture natural documentary wedding pictures. When the bride and groom are focused on each other, you can capture wonderful moments like this.

Photo by Tiree Dawson Photography – The barn at Askham Hall is the perfect location for a wedding breakfast and speeches. I loved the different layers of people as they gathered around to listen to the Best Man on Briony and Alistair’s big day.

Photo by Zo Taylor / ZT Photography – Taken at Hengrave Hall – Suffolk

Photo by Michael Marker Photography – The bride and bridesmaids’ fun on the bouncy castle was soon disrupted by some younger guests!

Photo by Pure Photo N.I – We captured this image during Katrina and Jason’s wedding earlier in the year at Clandeboye Lodge in Bangor, Northern Ireland. This was taken just after Katrina had walked down the aisle.

Photo by Paul Fletcher Photography – This image was taken at Slaugham Place in West Sussex last year. While hunting for interesting documentary moments during dinner, I noticed the children having a few wild moments outside. There were several shots taken within a minute, but I particularly love the action, the layers, and the separation in this one!

Photo by SV PHOTOGRAPH – We organised the intimate destination wedding of our bride and groom on a tiny wild island. I was capturing her getting ready on the sand when two dogs were kissing in the background. The bride never saw them until she received the photos. It’s a cute but very fleeting moment.

Photo by Fiona Walsh Photography – Little Idris, what a charming boy. It was heartwarming to see not only how in love his parents were but also how much they loved their son and included him in everything.

Photo by Luca Caparrelli Photography – A friend touches the future bride gently.

Photo by Tim Simpson Photography – This image was taken at Manchester Town Hall. It involved quite a bit of running, but I had planned the shot in my head, and it came out great. It’s good to get an alternative angle.

I first met this couple on their narrow boat in Little Venice and was immediately struck by their friendliness, warmth, and the deep affection they had for one another. It’s a fact that same-sex marriages, even in a progressive country like the UK, can sometimes cause tension among relatives. Unfortunately, we all know this is true. But not in this family. Far from it.
I captured this delightful snogfest, which included the couple and one of the groom’s parents, who decided to join in for the photo I was taking. This was on the vintage bus ride from Marylebone Town Hall to Hackney, and it remains one of my favourite captures.

Photo by Stefano Ferrier International Photography – Villa Caroli Zanchi is a wonderful nineteenth-century villa located in northern Italy, near Bergamo. I particularly like this picture because, during the first dance, I sought a different perspective. I moved in close and tried an unusual angle to capture the bride’s expression.

Photo by Stefano Ferrier International Photography – There are some wedding venues where it is always a pleasure to shoot. For me, it’s always a joy to shoot at Tenuta Serradesca in Bergamo, northern Italy. This magical place, with its stunning landscapes and lovely vineyards, is simply perfect.

Photo by Matt Selby photography – Taken during the church service. Nobody knew this was about to happen!
