For me, a wedding is about the couple first, then their family and friends, and then all the details and elements that go to make the day unique and special. The day can pass in a blur, and I know that preserving the memories of moments, venue and guests is important to you. I am generous with my time on the day and in the edit, and will try to capture it all, reportage style.
At the same time, the heart of the job is still the classic bride and groom portrait – the mantlepiece shot – that has been the photographer’s goal ever since cameras first came to a wedding. A great wedding portrait should capture not only the couple as people but of what draws them together. Why did they fall in love? At every wedding, whether I am booked for a long day or a short shoot, it’s those shots that are the goal.
