Kirsten's profile info

I've been crafting unforgettable wedding ceremonies for two years. I trained at the Academy of Modern Celebrancy and honestly, since I qualified no two days are ever the same - which is exactly why I love what I do! My approach is all about getting to know you as a couple, then creating a ceremony that feels like the most authentic celebration of your love. Let me paint you a picture with two recent weddings that couldn't have been more different: Last June, I had the honour of celebrating a beautiful Tunisian-English fusion ceremony. We wove together traditions, including English garden party elements and a handfasting ceremony, which included the brothers from both families. The result? Guests from both cultures felt completely included, and to see everyone dance the night away afterwards as one family unit was such a joy. Fast forward to earlier this year, and I'm standing in the beer garden of the local pub, celebrating a couple who met over a pint and wanted their wedding to reflect that down-to-earth love story. We incorporated their favourite pub quiz questions into the ceremony, their dog wore a bow tie as ring bearer, and their vows had everyone laughing and crying in equal measure. What you can expect from me: • Genuine care - I'll spend real time understanding your story, your families, and your vision. • Seamless planning - From crafting your personalised ceremony to ensuring everything runs smoothly on the day, I take care of all the logistics so you don't have to worry. • Calm confidence - I've seen it all, so whatever unexpected moments arise, I'll handle them with grace and often humour. • A ceremony that's unmistakably yours - Whether grand or intimate, traditional or quirky, it'll feel authentically you. Bottom line: Your wedding day should feel like the best celebration you've ever attended - because it's yours.

Tell couples about your experience and approach
I like to think that my creativity, wit and confidence shine through in everything I do. I started my working life as a holiday rep in the Mediterranean, from which I returned with a treasure trove of stories and a knack for captivating audiences. That was over 30 years ago (eek!).

Since then, I’ve been in marketing, using my creativity and writing skills to engage people the world over. People say that I’m beyond organised and have a natural confidence and ability to put people at ease. I’ve organised hundreds of events from just a handful of people to massive exhibitions. I love a clipboard and lists!

I also love public speaking. My first speaking gig was as a narrator at the school play, aged 7. I have spoken at many kinds of events and also been a voiceover artist on TV adverts.

It’s these skills combined that make me your ideal celebrant and more! I live in a little village, near Worksop and close to the M1 J31, which makes me ideally located to go anywhere I’m needed. I’m also fully qualified and insured to give you peace of mind.
What do you love most about being a celebrant?
What I love most about being a celebrant is those magical moments when everything clicks perfectly into place - and I'm not just talking about the ceremony running smoothly!

It's watching a couple's faces light up when I suggest weaving their rescue dog into the ring exchange, or seeing their families burst into laughter when I share a perfectly timed story about how they met. I live for those spontaneous moments of pure joy that make everyone think, 'This is so them!'

What makes me different? I'm equal parts sentiment and humour.

While I respect the marriage tradition, I also believe your wedding should feel like the best dinner party you've ever thrown - where everyone's relaxed, genuinely happy, and creating memories they'll treasure forever.

I spend real time getting to know you as a couple. Not just the basics, but the little things - like how you both ugly-cry watching a random TV show or your ongoing debate about whether pineapple belongs on pizza. These are the details that make your ceremony uniquely yours.

I'm also your calm in any storm. Forgotten rings? Rain on your outdoor ceremony? Surprise family drama? I've seen it all, and I handle it with grace and often a well-timed joke that gets everyone laughing again.

Your ceremony should tell your story with warmth, authenticity, and maybe a few delightful surprises that no one saw coming.

That's the Lovebird difference.
Do you specialise in any particular types of ceremonies (religious, spiritual, humanist, themed, etc.)?
I adapt beautifully to whatever vision you have for your special day!

My sweet spot? Personalised ceremonies that honour the significance of your commitment while celebrating your unique story. Whether you want a ceremony steeped in meaningful traditions, a themed wedding that reflects your shared passions, or something completely bespoke - I create ceremonies that feel authentically you.

I particularly excel at:

- Cultural fusion ceremonies - Have different backgrounds? I love weaving traditions together in meaningful ways. I've created beautiful ceremonies blending everything from handfasting with family heritage rituals to incorporating meaningful cultural elements that honour your roots.

- Intimate, story-driven celebrations - I specialise in ceremonies where every word matters. If you want your guests to feel like they're hearing your love story unfold rather than sitting through a standard service, I'm your person.

- "Relaxed elegance" weddings - Think garden parties with gorgeous vows, or stunning venues where the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the ceremony is beautifully crafted.

- Family-focused ceremonies - Blending families? Including children from previous relationships? I create inclusive ceremonies where everyone feels valued and part of your new chapter.

- Themed and unique celebrations - Want to incorporate your shared love of travel, or that hobby that brought you together? I excel at weaving these personal touches into ceremonies that feel both meaningful and fun.

My philosophy: Every couple deserves a ceremony as unique as their love story - with just enough unexpected charm to make it unforgettable.
What's the most important thing couples should know about you before they book?
Q. Can I legally marry you?
A. Not yet! after you have given notice (a legal requirement at least 29 days before your ceremony), you can complete your official marriage registration at a register office before the wedding ceremony. This is a short, formal process with set vows you need to say in front of two witnesses (it costs around £70). But the good news is that you don't need to exchange rings or have any personalised touches at this point! We can save that all for your ceremony with me!

Q. How do you work with you both to create a personalised ceremony?
A. I am naturally inquisitive and have a very relaxed approach – you’d be surprised what people tell me (all of course confidential!). Through conversation, over a cup of coffee (or preferably wine), I’ll find out more about how you two came to be, your loves, your habits, your hobbies, your family – and what you would like your wedding ceremony to be like. From that I’ll create some magic and then come back to you with a draft. You can change it, ask me to add bits in, take bits out – or in some cases, just let me surprise you. You can be as involved, or not, as you wish.

Q. Can I help you write your vows? (If so, how?)
A. I do, and I can! Vows are deeply personal, but if you are not a natural writer or communicator I can guide you along the way. I’ve got a great guide that can help prompt you – or if you are really struggling, you can give me bullet points and I can write them for you. Your wedding ceremony shouldn’t be stressful – that’s why you have me. I love writing so use me!

Q. Are you comfortable incorporating cultural or religious traditions?
A. Absolutely! I often find that getting family or friends involved in readings or taking part in rituals works beautifully. For example, at a wedding I officiated, two nationalities and religions were uniting. I asked a brother from both sides of the family to get involved in a hand fasting ceremony. It was a perfect way of uniting two families. There are so many lovely things we can do and I’m happy to advise.

Q. How long is a typical ceremony?
A. As long or as short as you like! Typically 30-45 minutes, and this includes a reading. But you can do anything you like! We can add music, your pet dog, readings, unity candle ceremonies - whatever you want. That's the joy of choosing a celebrant-led wedding.

Q. Can you wear something to match our theme?
A. Yes, whether it’s a colour, a style of even a theme like Star Wars or Bridgerton I’m game for anything. I draw the line at nudity. No-one wants to see me in the buff!

Q. What other services do you offer?
A. This is where I might come in handy. As an event organiser in my day job, I’ve got a lot of skills in getting things done. If you have organised your own wedding and had no need for a wedding planner then the only bit you might need help with is actually on your big day. I can help you.
I can help facilitate all those jobs that need a reliable person to get them done – like are the groomsmen handing out your order of service, gathering together all the people that you want in your wedding photos, making sure that your wedding breakfast is on time, announcing your arrival and introducing all the speeches, making sure you cut your cake. There are lots of little jobs that still need to happen, and with me there, you don’t need to worry. I’ll be your wing woman/organiser extraordinaire! Read my separate listing on hiring me to help you on the day.
