Tell couples about your experience and approach
I have been lucky enough to capture over 500 weddings so far, and I genuinely love being a professional photographer. There are so many different elements to a wedding day, so it's really important to use a wide variety of styles to capture everything properly. As much as I say that I have a very natural approach, I definitely don't stand in a corner with a zoom lens and hope for the best! I'm constantly creating images and predicting what will happen next - or indeed making things happen - so that I can place myself, and my camera settings, just right. On the outside I'm very calm and confident, and everything just seems to happen very naturally, but inside I'm constantly planning the next two (or ten) steps ahead! The responsibility is on me to capture what I'm looking for, rather than constantly badgering you - and this is why many, many years of experience is super important!
What can couples do to get the most out of their wedding photography on the day?
Genuinely just enjoy yourselves and trust in your photographer to gently prompt you on the day!
Are you super chatty or will be you be a fly on the wall?
I'm naturally very friendly and I'll talk to anybody, but I'm not at all over-bearing and for most of the day, you won't even be aware that I'm there. I am very organised and I can guide you exactly where I want you to stand and where to place your hands etc, but I'm not at all pushy.
What are your artistic influences?
I became a photographer largely because I was looking for somebody to capture my special day, 17 years ago. My photographer, Phillip, was a true inspiration and without him, I might not be where I am today. I'm always scouting other photographers and still get inspired to try new ideas all the time. Following photographers and venues on Instagram is super useful too, in order to keep moving forward.
What was your favourite wedding shoot, and why?
Wow! That is like choosing a favourite child! I've never photographed a wedding where the couple weren't lovely, and the venue isn't really so important. As long as there are smiley, happy people in love - which is a given at a wedding - then I'm happy too!
What kinds of moments are you looking to capture?
I usually cover the preparations which are shot very naturally alongside some lovely fashion photography type details of dress, shoes, jewellery etc. Then some pre-ceremony shots of the bride/ groom looking very cool (and maybe a tiny bit nervous) at the venue. The ceremony is of course completely photojournalistic and I don't move around or in any way distract whilst you are saying your vows! Celebrations and proud hugs and tears are all part of the day and I find that most people want some very well organised, no fuss, family and wedding party group photos. Couple's portraits are next and I promise never to take you away from your guests for hours (unless you really wanted to of course!). I just guide you to the perfect spots with the loveliest light and then prompt you gently to achieve exactly what I'm looking for. You will want all of the important moments capturing - including speeches/ toasts/ cake cutting etc and I stay to capture the evening reception, all the way through to the first dance and a little bit of boogeying beyond!
Why should couples choose you as a photographer?
I am confident but not over-bearing, I have nearly two hundred 5 star reviews online, I've been a professional photographer for over fifteen years so I'm super experienced, and I actually love what I do.
What is the most important thing to you when you photograph weddings?
I make sure that I do everything possible to make your day run smoothly, whilst capturing lots of beautiful images for you to look back on forever.
What's the most important thing couples should know about you before they book?
You will see immediately that I know exactly what I'm doing so you can just relax and enjoy your day, whilst I do my thing.

I'm looking forward to some forthcoming weddings out in nature - so I'm booked in to shoot at an elopement venue called the Love Shack which looks really sweet and also at Bowland Tipis, for a woodland wedding.
