Sharon's profile info

I have worked in the wedding industry for about 9 years. Originally working as a registrar for a local authority, officiating hundreds of legal ceremonies. I absolutely loved all aspects of this role. However, the restrictive nature of a registrar led wedding was somewhat of a bugbear. I strongly believe couples should have choice around their wedding style. So, after training with the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants, I ventured into the world of celebrancy. What a fabulous adventure it has been! I am now able to conduct weddings ceremonies for couples anywhere, at any time and without the rules. It means couples can truly express themselves on one of the most important days of their lives. I have the huge privilege of standing by their side on the journey to the ceremony and on the day itself. The preparation for the ceremony should be fun, not stressful, so I aim to bring along warmth and enthusiasm (plus lots of ideas if wanted!). What makes me truly happy, is seeing my couples be their authentic selves on their wedding day. It is incredibly special when a guest approaches me to ask if I am a friend of the couple, as the ceremony was just 'so them'! I genuinely believe I have the best job in the world.

What do you love most about being a celebrant?
I absolutely adore every moment of being a wedding celebrant. Without doubt, the best bit is getting to know each couple - their stories, quirks, dreams and the random little titbits which are uniquely 'them'. These moments build the foundations of the ceremonies I craft. My aim is to bring heart, sparkle and plenty of joy, so my couples feel the ceremony is unmistakably them and utterly unforgettable. It’s all about starting their happily-ever-after with energy, happy tears and contagious smiles.

Being part of a couple’s love story is a true privilege. I’m committed to making the whole journey friendly, relaxed and stress-free. I’m easy to talk to, always quick to respond (my husband will tell you my phone is never far from reach!) and I’m a great listener. From the first chat to the final “I do,” I’ll be there with warmth, support and genuine care.
Do you specialise in any particular types of ceremonies (religious, spiritual, humanist, themed, etc.)?
My own style as a wedding celebrant is upbeat, friendly and colourful BUT the day isn't all about me!

I am adept at blending different elements into a wedding ceremony, which means no two ceremony are ever alike. I'm equally happy incorporating a romantic ritual such as hand fasting, as I am being stood in a tipi - glow sticks aloft - conducting a sing-a-long!
Additional terms
Please note: In England and Wales, a celebrant-led ceremony is not legally binding. It is the couple’s responsibility to arrange and complete the legal marriage process with a registrar
