It’s such a pleasure to introduce you to the lovely (and super duper award winning) Lydia Stamps Photography today. Her photography really portrays the feeling and atmosphere of a wedding and is just plain dreamy. Bright, modern and timeless shots ensure her clients are left with images to treasure, let alone the top notch service she offers couples.
Lydia offers sage words of advice when she says to choose a photographer “you feel relaxed and comfortable with“. You’d certainly be in safe hands with Lydia.
Hello, (waves!) I’m Lydia, from Lydia Stamps Photography. I’ve been a wedding photographer for five years now and I love it! I live in Wiltshire with my husband, and our diva cat Edie and loveable dog Dotty. As I write this we’re eagerly awaiting the arrival of our first baby too – eeek! I love cooking roast dinners, movie nights in on the sofa and I wear my heart on my sleeve.
I love wedding pretty. I go gaga over a good dress and fabulous flowers and I love that that’s part of my job, but most importantly I love the fact I get let into someone’s family for the day to witness the most special day of a couple’s life. I love all the emotion, the fun, the chaos, the laughter and the moments which may go unnoticed but are just so precious. Capturing a tiny but significant moment on camera to be loved forever is the best feeling.
Losing my Mum to breast cancer in 2011 was life changing for me. I found myself pouring over my own wedding photos and realising just how precious photographs are. I also realised life is short, and I didn’t want to spend my life doing something I wasn’t 100% passionate about so it gave me the push I needed to try setting up Lydia Stamps Photography. My photography teacher referred me for a wedding she was unable to take, after shooting that wedding it just snowballed from there.
Every wedding is different, but an office day in my studio usually consists of editing my most recent weddings, responding to enquiries from brides, sending images out to blogs and magazines, and designing albums with a few trips out to the park with Dotty in between – she comes to the studio with me!
I’d love to be a florist in another life!
I aim to provide a truly personal service. Your wedding photographer is one of the first things most people book, and they’re with you all day on the day too so their personality may have a big impact on the way you feel and how you’re guided through the day. With this in mind I love keeping in touch with my clients in the run up, and helping recommend other suppliers when necessary – I’ve been in the industry a while now and like to put my experience to good use! On the day, I aim to make the whole experience as relaxed and stress free as possible with no awkward posing, or shouting or herding the guests about like cattle when it comes to the group photos! And afterwards I want the delivery of the images to be really special, like receiving a relic to be cherished for years to come so I put lots of thought into that too!
My style and approach to shooting a wedding is for the whole thing to be relaxed and natural. If I had to describe the style of my images I’d say light, fresh and heartfelt.
My packages start at £1550 for six hours, rising to £2500 for all day coverage by two photographers with a bespoke designed album, thank you cards and engagement shoot.
Your photographer is going to be hanging out with you all day on the most special day of your life so make sure it’s someone you feel relaxed and comfortable with, as well as liking their photography style. You don’t want to feel on edge or that their behaviour takes over on the day as your unease will show in the images!
Right now I’m working on this baby, but when this is published I’ll be heading into the 2016 wedding season! With the baby arriving I’m only taking on an exclusive amount of weddings and I have some awesome days lined up so I’m really looking forward to it!
Feel free to ring the doorbell of my studio in Salisbury city centre – at 75 New Street. I’m also available via info@lydiastampsphotography.com as well as all the usual social media outlets!
