Sorry not sorry for making you feel peckish today, I’m drooling over all of the delicious cakes in this article and I challenge you not to do the same!
If the time has come to choose your cake and you don’t fancy a traditional icing or a rustic naked cake, maybe buttercream is the one for you. There are loads of different ways to style this tasty dessert so you really can go wild or keep it simple, whatever suits your themes.
Here is our run-down of the different styles of buttercream cakes and how they might fit into your wedding.
First up, we look at the classic buttercream. From those that are wearing only a stitch more than our naked cake friends to those which have more of a fully iced look. All you need to do is adorn with a delightful cake topper and whatever decoration fits the theme of your day.

Of course, flowers and cakes go together beautifully and you can really make an impact by covering the tiers in floral pretty whether real or fake.

A trend we are seeing more and more of is this dessert favourite, drip cake. It has such a sumptuous look anyway and on top of a buttercream base, it’s very hard to resist!

Sometimes fuss-free is the order of the day. One colour buttercream and some simple adornments with a topper or no make for a gorgeous cake table.

Another trend which shows no sign of going anywhere is metallic touches throughout the wedding. Give your cake a touch of style with edible metallic leaf like these beauties.

This is one of my absolute favourites for an outdoorsy rustic wedding. The buttercream itself can be manipulated to look like wood and the effect is just fabulous. Just add a woodland animal cake topper!

Whatever cake you choose, I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun window shopping! Are you looking for the perfect buttercream cake or have you already demolished the one from your wedding? I’d love to hear all your sugary tales! Rachel x
