Wild Romance Free Spirited Elopement Ideas

Breaking the mould when it comes to weddings is something we’re super passionate about here at Whimsical Wonderland Weddings. I really adore seeing breathtaking locations for weddings and elopements in the UK and I so hope to see many more beautiful spots for nuptials over the coming months. This editorial shoot was all about encompassing the free spirited and adventurous side of weddings and showcasing just what can be achieved with a team of brilliantly creative suppliers.

Organised and photographed by Clara Cooper Photography, here we see beautiful windswept portraits of our bride and groom for the day, complete with geometric backdrop, greenery for days and gorgeous attire. Whites, greens and greys were used within the tablescape décor and modern stationery complimented the look just perfectly. I just love the personalised cake too.

“When I think of my perfect wedding I’m reminded of some wise words by the character Carrie Bradshaw, not the most famous or obvious of philosophers I’ll grant you. But who doesn’t love some Sex and the City Carrie wisdom every once in a while? She’s defo my spirit animal!

“Why is it that we’re willing to write our own vows? But not our own rules?“

I want to encourage adventurous couples to embrace their free spirited side, and to let them know that not all rules or traditions are supposed to be stuck to religiously. That you can do whatever you want on your wedding day. Whether it be a clifftop elopement or a quiet gathering in a city bar or eloping to the bright lights of Vegas to say I do in front of an Elvis impersonator, as long as you are declaring your love with the one person that matters. Do the traditions and rules that society have put in place really matter?

In my opinion, no they definitely don’t!

I want more couples to troop on down to the registry office, get the legal bit out of the way first, and then hold a ceremony or party or a full blown knees up celebration anywhere you want, anywhere on the planet you want, with whoever you want! Because if you can’t do whatever you want on YOUR wedding day, when can you?

“A clifftop elopement would be my dream wedding. Overlooking the ocean. With a green, white and grey colour palette. Incorporating my love of the ocean and hiking, with my absolute obsession of all things grey, white and modern, with copious amounts of green foliage, and succulents. Topped off with lots of concrete textures, Juxtaposed with grey faux fur rugs, and plush grey velvet. A very slight colour pop of mulled wine to warm up the couple of ‘guests’ of said elopement. This styled shoot took place on the clifftops of Bull Bay in Anglesey, North Wales! The perfect and private setting for my shoot, with it’s gorgeous moody skies, and incredible landscapes!!

We were treated to wind, rain and sunshine all in one day! But hey, it’s Wales, what do you expect haha!”

“I am so made up with the outcome of this shoot, we were put through the ringer with the weather, but it was amazing! You can’t change the weather on your wedding day, so why change it at a shoot! We persevered, and came away with some simply stunning shots!

I just hope that it spurs more people on to embrace the imperfections of any wedding day, roll with it, and create something totally unique to you and your partner! And in turn, create some wonderful memories and adventures!”
