So before we consider your proposal wording and your proposal ring, it’s time to nail down your proposal idea! Here are some totally romantic options to get your imagination all fired up. From thoughtful locations to meaningful touches, try to always include you both at this present moment.
My first top tip is to ensure that the proposal you choose is actually something your partner would like. For example, perhaps they hate being the centre of attention. Then a public extravagant proposal may not be for them. Listen for any cues or hints, or ask a friend/family member in on the secret to probe a little for you without arousing any suspicion.

First up, before you come up with your dream proposal, have a plan of action. Not only will this help combat any nerves but it will ensure that everything goes without a hitch. Of course, there is nothing wrong with an impromptu proposal, which isn’t planned out. If that’s the way things happen, it was meant to be.
Before you set up your proposal location or concept, think about the words you’d like to use to pop the all-important question. Proposals from the heart will always be more memorable, special and personal.
Of course, don’t feel obliged to include any of these. Simply go with your heart, try not to script it too much and speak your truth. You can’t go far wrong. A simple “will you marry me” will have a lot of impact.

Next up, it’s time to find the proposal ring. The reason I say to find a proposal ring rather than an engagement ring, is that you may not want to find the final engagement ring before proposing. Or perhaps an engagement ring isn’t right for you. Of course, if you do want to purchase the engagement ring beforehand, go for it!
You could opt for a bespoke engagement ring, a vintage engagement ring or a more affordable high-street ring. Don’t feel like diamonds and precious metals are essential, do what works for you and your budget.
Don’t forget to find out your partners’ ring size with some stealthy investigation work. Think about raiding their jewellery box or sneakily tying some wool around their finger. Then you can start engagement ring shopping ready for your marriage proposal!
Or propose without a ring. Remember there are no rules when it comes to a marriage proposal.

If you fancy buying a proposal or engagement ring online, here are some places to start you off:
Always, always do your research before buying engagement rings online. Look for independent reviews and accreditations.
Once you have bought the engagement or proposal ring be sure to safely store it and keep it hidden. Also, think about encouraging your partner (in disguise) to have a manicure before the proposal takes place. That ring will want showing off and untidy hands/nails just won’t do now, will they? Don’t forget to treat your nails to some TLC too.
You may want to let a close family member or a friend in on the secret, be sure to tell someone you trust. In all seriousness though, it’s nice to have someone to talk to about the proposal if you are looking for advice or some kind words if you feel nervous. Perhaps you would like a proposal ring shopping partner?
Don’t forget to choose something nice to wear in which you will feel confident. It can be easy to forget your own outfit when you are busy trying to ensure you please your partner. But if you are planning a simple or impromptu proposal, don’t sweat it. Your partner loves you no matter the attire you choose.
Decide if asking for your partners’ families’ blessing is right for you as a couple. Then simply arrange a face-to-face chat to ask for their blessing.
Finally, don’t try and create perfection with your marriage proposal. Perfection isn’t attainable and most proposals have a little hiccup which usually creates a fun and memorable moment. The sentiment is what counts and of course, starting this brand new chapter together.
Be sure to savour the moment, take a snap together or a video. You can then decide when you’d like to share your engagement news. Why not arrange a surprise after-party straight after your epic marriage proposal? Invite all of those you love and make the celebrations last even longer.
Don’t forget to share your new relationship status on your social media (if that suits you). Also, be sure to check your proposal ring fits like a glove and if it doesn’t, get it resized. If you have yet to buy an engagement ring it’s time to go shopping! Hooray.
